    Hi,

I have installed the W3 Total Cache plugin to get the website running faster, but only page caching works. All the other stuff breaks the website (minify, browser caching, gzip compression, nothing works).

At the moment the website gets 15 to 20 points in Google Pagespeed which is way too slow for the website and its webshop.

Can you help me out in increasing the load speed of the website? I would appreciate it a lot.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hello,

Please provide us with FTP credentials and update the theme to the latest version and Woocommerce as well.
Before update delete “woocommerce” folder in the directory wp-content/themes/royal/ and it’ll be reuploaded from a new theme package.
Also update all required plugins https://www.8theme.com/download-plugins/ .

Don’t forget to create back up of your files and database before starting update process!

(it’s for Legenda theme but the process is the same).

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

    Hi Eva,

    Thank you for your respons.

I have 2 questions about your reply:

    1. Will deleting the woocommerce folder do anything to my current Woocommerce installation (like language settings (I have updated stuff to Dutch) and set up of the shop I have created)?

    2. I do not see the relationship between updating theme and plugins and the loadspeed of the website. Can you please explain why updating in your email is import for loadtime?

    Thank you for helping out.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hello,

    1. Nothing will be lost. You’ll reupload “woocommerce” folder in wp-content/themes/royal directory not in the plugins directory.

    2. Update is needed, because some old plugins versions may cause slow loading. Also theme should be always up to date because developers make some improvements in new versions.

    Eva Kemp.

    Hi Eva,

    Thank you for your answers.

I have updated the theme, updated woocommerce and updated the required plugins which we use in the website: revolution slider, visual composer and the visual composer add-ons. The rest of the required plugins are not used. I assume it is best to delete those unused plugins?

Anyway, everyting is up to date now.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hello,

Yes, please delete unused plugins and check site speed loading then.

    Hi Eva,

Also unused plugins are deleted. Pagespeed is still below average: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=protecht.nl&tab=mobile

Can you help out on the W3 caching plugin configuration?

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hello,

We’ve improved our theme as much as we could. And we have already emphasized if someone of our customers has experience in development and has proposals concerning changes in the theme (we mean only specific changes in the code in particular files, rather than general phrases like “Reduce CSS File” etc), we are asking to declare them here or contact us via the contact form https://www.8theme.com/contact-us/

Please take our apologies but for now there are no more possibilities to improve theme loading.

    Thank you for understanding.
    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

    Hi Eva,

Thank you very much for your respons. I understand.

I was wandering if (with your experience as a themebuilder and wordpress expert) you could help out with the W3 total cache plugin settings/configuration.

I have searched the internet using Google, but up till now I do not understand why the website ‘breaks’ when I switch on for example: browser caching. Normally a website should just function okay when you do that right?

Do you maybe have online sources where I can find detailed configuration settings for the W3 total cache plugin?

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hi Eva,

Thank you for the input. I already read those blogs. They are okay looking at ‘possibilities’ of the plugin, but they do not indicate on a detailed level what happens (or what might go wrong) after switching a plugin option on/off.

    Regards,

    Richard

Hello here, if i may intrude in this conversation.
Can you consider using WP-Rocket for your cache plugin ? It’s the best in the market, way more easier to configure and with support !

    Hi Brockway,

The W3 plugin is free. For freelancers that’s always a very big plus. Nevertheless, thanks for the recommendation. I wil keep the plugin in mind!

    Regards,

    Richard
