Why Custom CSS code DOES NOT affect my theme appearance?

Hi, I am working on one blanco child theme website, and tried to add some customized CSS code to make footer column layout change.

I tried to change 5 columns footer section into 3 or 4 column by adding some CSS codes. In preview mode, all CSS code added does make change properly. However, once I put these codes into style.css in child theme, no matter what i do, just nothing changed.

Do u know why this happened? All my previous custom css code have no problem.

Hi again,

I did some research on this and wondering if it is related to server’s memory too low for php execution?

I did a few other change but sometimes it returned with the “fatal error: allowed memory side … exhausted….” this message. So, I am curious if memory too low result no design changing with customized css code inserted??

Hello,

You need contact your hosting provider support and ask them to increase memory_limit value.

Hello,

I’ve commented width attribute for footer column in your child style.css file:
```
.col4-set .col-1 {
    float: left;
   /* width: 33.5%; */
}
```
This is how I see footer now:

HI,

Yeah, this is what I would like to achieve, and check out without any problem at my end as well.

Just have no idea of why the design could not properly display on the page before? even with correct css code added in stylesheet…

Do u think it is related to server memory allocated??

Hi,

I came to office this morning and opened up my website with another computer, however, the layout of website design still remain original…

but all without any problem while I checked with my home computer last night…

do u know why this happened? memory low?

Hello,

Try to check your site through public proxy service, e.g. http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.trinketsea.com
The problem you described can be caused by cache. As I see you are using cache plugin, so you need to clear browser and server cache after any style changes.

I did exactly same thing with my another website that hosted in different server, all new design layout could be instantly showing up as soon as I do new css code edit.

yeah, the other website also use cache plugins. I supposed this might be related to server configuration, isnt it?

Not exactly sure why.. actually.

The problem may be caused that your server also uses cache and that’s why changes can’t be seen momentarily.

Hi,

I finally solved this problem and came here to update and appreciate all ur help here..

Actually, i pointed my domain with cloudflare so have to purge cache there and turn on develop mode with cloudflare.

That is the reason why i could not see any reflect on the page no matter what i tried before…
