    Hello there,

We noticed that our website is really slow with this theme. Turned off Visual Composer and WooCommerce and the speed is somewhat normal. However these plug-ins can’t stay off because we need them.
Switched theme and the speed is normal too.

Admin-ajax.php is causing the speed problem. Googled my ass off and found some options/solutions. Some work and increase the speed from 15s to 10-8s loading time. As you may guess this is still to slow.
When we switched to another theme however this admin-ajax.php is nowhere to be found and the website functions normally (except for the style).

Is this something you could dive into and might be able to find a solution?

Updated the theme to 17.2, but this doesn’t help either.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    With kind regards,
    Jacky

    Hello Eva,

Yep that plug-in is installed and active with the settings as the post suggests.
Also added some code to the functions.php to only call for admin-ajax.php on WooCommerce pages.

We noticed just now that it is worse when logged in as an admin. Not logged in is faster.

Provided WP Login + FTP in private section. I made a back-up.

    Regards,
    Jacky

    Hello,

Here is the screenshot of your site testing results https://gyazo.com/25ec4263699ca213715ca627692c9ebb (from the left side with all activated plugins you installed and from the right – with deactivated all 3-rd party plugins)
Here you can follow the recommendations to decrease site speed loading https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.mensroomonline.nl/soJWX0BX

    Hello Jack,

Thanks for switching the theme to the non-child version and disabling the translation for the theme in WPML, really helpful there.

As you could read in my first comment I noticed that the speed is fine with some plug-ins (VisualComposer and WooCommerce) disabled. These 2 are the main reason the site is slow and since this theme should be compatible I would think this won’t cause any issues.

A month back, when the site was still in development, we switched the theme to Storefront. The site was instantly faster.

E-mailed our host/server people with the same question.
I hope for a solution from their side, because the support so far hasn’t helped much.

    Kind regards,
    Jacky

    Hello,

I have Installed and activated W3 Total Cache plugin instead of WP Super Cache plugin and I see better GTMetrix results:
    1) before: http://prntscr.com/cipnax https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.mensroomonline.nl/TXd5OJhA
    2) now: http://prntscr.com/cipo1e https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.mensroomonline.nl/HVxSmxHf
    3) default 2016 theme without cache http://prnt.sc/cipoc3 https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.mensroomonline.nl/6N9uRVzI

But if you check GTMetrix results you’ll see that some moments are related to your server settings. So, contact your server administrator to improve it.
I have checked empty cart page with default WP theme, without any content and loading time is 5.11s http://prntscr.com/cipwco This is very slow. For example results from our test site with the same required plugins for Classico theme + default theme http://prntscr.com/cipxjc You see the difference.

Also, update your theme to the latest version because some bugs with cart page were fixed in version 1.7.2.

    Regards

    Hello,

I seem to have the same issue as mentioned by Jacky. After reading this conversation I want to update my theme to version 1.7.2. (currently running 1.7.1.) but I can not find the download link for the updated theme. Also my wordpress admin does not show there is an update available for this theme.

Where can I get the latest update so that I can find out if the issue has anything to do with the version I run.

Thank you in advance for your answer.

    Kind regards

    Hello @JJVR1990,

    There was a mistype.
    We meant 1.7.1 version.
If you’re using 1.7.1 Classico version, that’s the latest one.

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

    Hello Eva Kemp,

Since a few days I switched server, installed wordpress and the exact same website as before.
The website runs really slow. The host provider think it can be a theme issue.

Is there anything you can do to help me make my website load faster?

    Thank you in advance.

    Dear Eva Kemp,

Thank you for your quick reply and thank you very much for the possible solutions.

I do have other websites running and these websites have a way lower score on GT Metrix and Tools.Pingdom. But I do not experience these long load times on these websites. I know that the changes you mentioned do improve speed, but in my opionion the problem is with the two files mentioned in private content.

I am told that these files are theme related and causing the big slow down on loading the pages.

Can you tell me more about the two files mentioned below and how these are related to the theme? I think that are the files we need to fix.

    Thank you very much already.

    Hello @JJVR1990,

Ajax is used for cart refreshing. For now we’ve improved it as much as we could. But our developers will try to improve its functionality much better.

Please take our apologies for inconveniences.

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

    Hello Eva Kemp,

    Thank you for your reply.

I installed a fresh WordPress version on another domain (another host too). The website responded really fast (Also with the WooCommerce plugin). But as soon as I install the Classico theme, the website is really slow again. Same problem….

Please tell me if there will come a fix for this issue on a short notice because I cannot sell a single product right now!

Please let me know if you can not fix this issue. Because if so, I am forced to use another theme and I would like a refund of my purchase.

For now I rate the theme with 1 star only. I really like the look and feel and all the possibilities. But the slow speed is too big of an issue.

    Does not work for me.
