Problems Playing a Video in Product Gallery

We want to include videos for some of our products, and we understand there must be a product image defined before the video shows up in the product gallery list. However, when the gallery view shifts to the video, clicking the video run button causes the galley to shift back to the product image and therefore the video cannot be watched. How do we overcome this issue?

Jack, thanks for the quick response!

The page (currently blocked if you are not logged into WordPress) is at http://www.faireastwind.com/product/opal-crystal-free-form-25-1×18-5×8-3-mm/, so log into WordPress before attempting to go to that page. You’ll see that I’ve added a plugin to allow for a Video tab to show you the video that you can’t watch in the gallery section.

What – you see the video playing? Did you have to click the video play button, or did it just start playing? It doesn’t auto-run for me, and I can’t click the video run button without the gallery shifting back to the 1st product image.

I’ve tried this in Chrome and Windows Edge. In Edge, I can right-click on the play button and get the video to play, but just clicking on the run button shifts the focus back to the product image.

Here’s what I’m looking at in Chrome, and clicking the run button (left or right) causes the gallery to shift back to the product image, and I can’t get the video to run.

The problem is because of the navigation arrows http://storage6.static.itmages.com/i/16/1006/h_1475741988_9803951_1191647f58.jpeg . If you wish we can hide them for you so video button will be clickable.

Jack, sorry for the delay. I’ve tried to hide the navigation arrows, but can’t. If you can, please do so and let me know how you’ve manage to do that. I suspect it might be a functions.pho routine you’ll add to the chold theme functions.php file, but you’ll tell me, I’m sure.

I’ve added this code in Theme Options > Custom CSS > Global Custom CSS:

   display: none;
}
```

Sorry, but one last issue – importing the product videos. We use the WP All Import Pro plugin to update our products/inventory on a nightly basis. With it, we can map data in a source file to WooCommerce product fields, and upload attachments (like videos), but things aren’t working. They asked this question about the WooPress theme:

“Do you just need to import a video as an attachment? If so, you can do that via the “Download & Import Attachments” field inside the “Other Product Options” section of the import. However, if you’re using a plugin that adds a “Product Video” field and are trying to import into that, then it just depends on how they’re storing their data.”

So, the question is, “how/where are you storing the filenames or paths to the product videos?” Knowing that, I hope to be able to do the same using the WP All Import Pro plugin, otherwise I’m going to have to write some code to get them loaded following their API.

You’re take on this?

Hello,

Video saving code is stored in the file wp-content/themes/royal/framework/woo.php http://prnt.sc/ct9h9e . But it will be easier if you upload video for each product, because even after import you’ll have to re-save products.

Eva, I don’t think that is right. Your documentation says it will import product iamges & video, and I’ve got proof that it doesn’t import vidoes properly, and you’re telling me … what? That it doesn’t, and that we need to manually upload videos for our 5,000 products? That’s not right. WP All Import Pro should import videos as well as it imports product images – they’re not any different in many, many respects.

I think you should consider this something that you need to address in the next release of yur plugin, and I would appreciate being the first to be notified when it’s available. If you need me to test a pre-release beta vesion of the plugin, count me in.

We’re depending on you doing the right thing.
