This setting does not appear to work.

Ecommerce -> Text for empty cart

Set it to something like “Psst, buy something”.

The empty cart text does not update.

I have checked your site and don’t understand your issue with the cart page http://prntscr.com/deeavi
Could you explain me in more details what do you want to change: icon or button maybe? Because cart text was changed.

I guess i misunderstood.

I was thinking this changed the Text of the mini cart, when you hover over the cart and it says “no products in cart

Hello,

No, that text appears on Cart page when the cart is empty. To change the mini cart text use translation files https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-translation/base-theme-translation/
