Dear support team,
For some reason the menu item ‘sunglasses’ does not function at all regardless of what settings I choose in Appearance > Menus.

Hello,
Please, follow the next steps:
1) Do the backup of all you files and DB.
2) Update theme to latest version 3.6 because you are using too old version 2.0.
3) After update skip Setup Wizard and go to Theme Options > activate theme using your purchase code.
4) Check the menu. If your issue still persists ufter apdate, please, provide FTP access to your site in Private Content area.
