Hi, just updated the theme to the latest version and redeux framework.

A lot of bad things happened.

    1. part of my sidebars disappeared from the pages in VC and I had to restore them manually

    2. Some inactive widgets look pretty strange, see the screenshot: http://imgur.com/a/1yURY

    3. The theme options look pretty bad: http://imgur.com/a/pEJjJ

If you need access, it is in the private content

Regaring #3 – I have restoredthe old version of Redeux Framework – 3.6.4 and it looks the way it should now, but please note that the latest version of your theme seem to have a bug with the latest version of Redeux Framework (as evidenced in the screenshot).
I whish that those obvious things would be tested prior to the theme release.

I would appreciate if you still can address #2 – the inactive sidebars/widget display.

    thank you

    Hello,

If you update theme, don’t rename old theme. Once you rename theme then all your widgets are messed up. If you changed theme folder name to your custom name then don’t use auto updates because it removes your theme folder and replaces by default xstore theme folder.

You may also try manual theme update via FTP. You just need to copy new version into themes folder on your server with overwriting.

Problem with theme options is related to Redux Framework plugin update but it was fixed in version 3.10 of our theme. So, please, update theme to version 3.10 or just replace /xstore/framework/assets/admin-css/admin.css file by file from the new version of our theme.

    Regards

Sorry, for a late reply I was on vacation.
I’m not sure why you assume I renamed the theme folder – I didn’t.
According to the name under themes folder it looks like the update procedure by itself creates a separate folder – you can see it here: http://imgur.com/a/BuGde, so it is more likely a bug. Again, I haven’t changed anything.

So what should I do with all the messed up display of the inactive widgets?

    Please advise.
    Thank you.

    Hello,

How the auto update works: WP downloads the theme to /wp-content/upgrade/, extracts the theme, deletes the old one, and copies up the new one. I can’t understand why your server created folder with strange name instead of the normal one but as I can see the xstore folder in inside the xstore-ajf7nk folder http://prntscr.com/evw8cg
I suppose you need to ask your server admin why this happened.

Sure, I’ll talk to them. But for now – what would the solution? I asked the same question in the previous reply and yo seemed to miss it.

Please let me know what would be the temp fix, I will discuss the rest with the hosting.

P.S. As a web agency we worked with lots of leading theme forest themes – Ronneby, Salient, The 7, Kayllas, and all of them try to help even they think the issue with the hosting. They even issue fixes for some hosting platforms, like Siteground. I was a bit surprised by your reply, but I can understand that you can consider it outside of your support scope.

I really like your theme so far and hope to buy licensed for future projects, this is the ‘first run’ with you guys and I hope to see it to go smoothly.

    Cheers.

We are ready to help you. But we need to reproduce the problem to find out why it happened. We don’t have such problem on our test installs. That’s why the only way to find the problem is to work on your site and try to update theme again. If you allow us to update theme, re-install if we need this then we’ll do our best to sort out.
We will need your permission for the theme update/re-installation and access to your site.

    Sure, it would be great.

    1. Can you please make sure that nothing will be lost during the update/re-installation and the site will be functional?
    2. Will it be enough if I give you admin access and full acces to cPanel? (there is only one site running on it)

    Thank you!

Olga, thanks for your offer. I’m just working on something and I would like to finish it first.
Would you be so kind to postpone your testing with theme update a bit? I will provide you credentials in a bout a week when I finish.

Hi, thank you for waiting. Let’s get things on the right track.

    Here is a quick recap:

    1. I’ve used the automatic theme update and as stated in the ticket history, lots of things happened.
    2. You’ve looked into that and the conclusion was that something strange happened during the automatic theme update and you said it is most likely hosting-related.

As per your investigation this is what happened:
How the auto update works: WP downloads the theme to /wp-content/upgrade/, extracts the theme, deletes the old one, and copies up the new one. I can’t understand why your server created folder with strange name instead of the normal one but as I can see the xstore folder in inside the xstore-ajf7nk folder http://prntscr.com/evw8cg

    3. Then we agreed that:
    a) even though it appears server-related, you would take a look into it and help to fix it
    b) you would upgrade it to the latest version and make sure the automated upgrade worked
    c) you mentioned that no data loss will occur since it is a site being developed.

Administrative access to hosting panel and wordpress access is provided in private section.

I understand that you are going an extra mile here and I really-really appreciate it.
    Thank you!

Weird indeed. I understand it is hard to tell what went wrong the first time, but hopefully we wnn’t see those issues happening again.

Thanks a lot for looking into it.
