Hi,
We are building a website for a client. We were building the site on our server with no problems, but have just moved the website to our client’s hosting (at Siteground) and suddenly Visual Composer is not working (it would not display in the backend at all when editing pages – in fact no content is displaying).
We managed to narrow down the issue to the “Massive Addons” plugin – when we disabled this Visual Composer worked again.
I have tried updating all the plugins and themes to the latest version but cannot get Visual Composer to work. Are you able to help?
Thanks,
Antony
Hello,
You need to delete old versions of plugins if you use latest http://prntscr.com/hmctjz
then try to disable 3-rd party plugins (means the plugins that are not included in the theme package are not in the list of required plugins https://www.8theme.com/demo/docs/woopress/#!/external_plugins) and then check the problem.
Let us know result.
Regards
Hi Rose,
I have deleted the old versions and disabled all 3rd party plugins but the issue still existed. I have now re-activated the plugins.
There definitely seems to be a link with ‘Massive Addons’ – when I disable this plugin Visual Composer works fine..?
Thanks,
Antony
Hello,
Have you tried running a fresh dummy install on your server (new wordpress setup, separate directory, separate database, etc.) Have you checked memory limits? Version of PHP you’re running? Maybe turn debug mode on in your config file?
I’m just another customer (not support) – saw this and thought I could help :] These are some of the things I’d check.
Hi, thanks for the help!
I have checked the memory limits, php version etc and all meet the requirements. I know our external developer who has helped us build the site had a look in debug mode but could not find anything (I can do more css/html – going into debug mode I wouldn’t know where to look unfortunately – hence having external help!)
I have not tried a dummy install – I will have a look at this and see if there are issues with the dummy install.
Thanks,
Antony
Hello,
I tried to do a fresh ‘dummy’ install but am unable to due to needing to activate the theme on more than 1 site.. Am I able to de-activate on the current ‘dev’ site, do the test on the ‘dummy’, and then re-activate the ‘dev’ after without losing information?
Thanks,
Antony
Hello, @Funeral Studio
Please read this reply from author of Massive Addons plugin https://codecanyon.net/item/massive-addons-for-visual-composer/14429839/comments?page=36&filter=all#comment_14143143 https://prnt.sc/hmu4qh and follow their suggestion, like in this topic https://www.8theme.com/topic/where-i-can-edit-a-theme/ hope it will help you.
Also, we’ve changed activation limit for you. You may use the 1 license for the 1 dev domain and 1 live domain. But keep in mind that you can use our theme license for 1 end product only https://themeforest.net/licenses/standard

Hi Rose – thank you for this! It has been resolved!
I completed the test of the ‘dummy’ site and unfortunately this still did not work, but after contacting the host (Siteground) they made the following changes based on your suggestion:
I have increased the memory_limit to 768MB which is the maximum value on our shared servers and also added this:
<IfModule mod_substitute.c>
SubstituteMaxLineLength 10M
</IfModule>inside the .htaccess of the website as this is the second recommendation
This has resolved the issue. Thanks so much for your help.
Antony
