Product Filters not showing/working - by DebbieC

    I am having trouble with the filter widgets for shop sidebar and showing the colour options on products.

    I have tried following the video and tried various widgets but they are not working. You can see the example at: https://staging11.swankypins.co.uk/product-category/suspenderbelts/
    The price filter does not work, it gives an error message ‘Check your spelling or search again with less specific term’.

    The colours display using the ‘Color Filters for WooCommerce’ plugin which I already had installed but not your ‘Swatches Filter by Color’. As you can see on the link above, it shows tick boxes for very few colours (below the woocommerce colours), not all the colours available or the actual colour swatches. All the colours shown by the ‘color filters’ plugin are attributes on the site so surely should display?

    ‘sort by rating’ doesn’t appear on the page at all even though I have added the widget.

    I want the filters Price, Colour, Brands and Rating to show in the sidebar on category pages in a similar way to your demo

    If some filters are shown by additional plugins, it would be better to contact the support of plugins to get help.

    About the price and rating widgets, try to disable all third-party plugins, that do not come bundled with our theme https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/plugins/included-plugins/ and check how widgets work then. For example, on the single product page, you can see this warning http://prntscr.com/r5psdu

    If you need any further assistance from our side, provide temporary wp-admin access.

    Hi,

    I have set it up the same as your video, screenshots ect. I am wondering the colour swatch problem is because my attribute is called ‘Colour’, yours is ‘Color’. Maybe the system is not recognising the different spelling. I already have the attribute ‘Colour’ and all the colours listed in there. I need your plugin/filter to recognise the spelling different. How do I do that? I don’t want to change the Attribute to the US spelling for a UK site.

    i will now try disabling plugins to see if I can get the price and brands to work correctly. I do have additional plugins that were used on my existing site but would obviously prefer the ones with your template to be used as there won’t be compatability issues.

    Hello,

    The spelling should not cause any problem, but to give you a solid answer we need to take a closer look at your settings. Provide us with temporary wp-admin access.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your help. I have deactivated most of the plugins on the site as you suggest and it really hasn’t made a difference.

    The price filter still doesn’t work correctly, the sort by rating doesn’t show at all, neither does the ‘active product filters’.

    The colour filters show a selection of circles, but not all the colours i have available – there should be pink, blue, turquoise, teal ect. that are not showing. The circles are all white as well, not the colour they should be.

    Also the brands filter doesn’t show in the ‘Shop Filters’ section.

    Hello,

    1) 8theme – Filter Products by Price has Filter button http://prntscr.com/r63qro to apply the filter you need to click on the button, but on your site, this button is not visible because of dark version enabled http://prntscr.com/r63srg http://prntscr.com/r63rt6 , so I would recommend you to disable the Dark version in Theme Options > Styling.
    Also, you can enable Ajax Product Filters (Theme Options > WooCommerce (Shop) > Shop > Shop page Layout http://prntscr.com/r63ttx ).
    2) 8theme – Active Product Filters shows only applied filters so it is not visible from the start on the Shop page. As I can see it works correctly on your site – http://prntscr.com/r63usi
    3) Filter Products by Rating – will be displayed once your products get different ratings. If you have products without rating and 5-stars products only, there are no parameters for sorting.
    4) 8theme – Swatches filter –
    You have 28 attributes http://prntscr.com/r640l6 and 27 are shown in the sidebar http://prntscr.com/r640ry Empty attributes, like this one http://prntscr.com/r640xr can’t be shown, so I do not see the problem. Here is pink – http://prntscr.com/r6418h and so on, please check one more time.
    Circles are white because you did not select colors for them – http://prntscr.com/r63wlp Go to Attributes > Colours > http://prntscr.com/r63wtw Here are screenshots form our demo – http://prntscr.com/r63x0l > http://prntscr.com/r63x4r
    5) You do not have Brands – http://prntscr.com/r63xy8 You need to add brands and associate products to them, then the filter will be shown on the frontend.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your help. it still isn’t right though.

    1) Filter Products by Price
    Yes I realise that the filter button does not show, but I have been using it as I know it is there. It does not filter the price.

    I have now turned off ‘dark version’.

    Even the ‘Sort by’ option doesn’t work – low to high or high to low just shows a random mix, not in price order.
    e.g.https://staging11.swankypins.co.uk/product-category/suspenderbelts/?orderby=price
    This was a search for ‘sort by price – low to high’. It does not show lowest prices then rising. All prices are mixed up in results.

    Again, using this same category, if you change the price filter slider to show £22-£33, there is only one result showing in the results. This is incorrect. If you change the filter to show products between £13-£25, you get the error message ‘Check your spelling or search again with less specific terms’

    A couple of times whilst testing filters I have received the following error message –
    ‘Incorrect Apache directives inside .htaccess file’

    I have enabled Ajax Product Filters but am seeing no difference.

    Please can you look at this again, I have tried on 2 browsers but cannot see it working.

    2) Active Product – Yes this is now working

    3) Ratings – Okay, I’ll have to get some worse reviews 🙁

    4) Swatches Filter – The 27 you are referring to show on the ‘stockings’ category. Only 7 show on the ‘suspender belts’ category https://staging11.swankypins.co.uk/product-category/suspenderbelts/. Colours such as teal, blue, turquoise, pink ect. should be showing here.
    The screenshot you sent showed ‘0’ in Light Blue, but on my live site there are two products (stockings) using the colour ‘light blue’ https://www.swankypins.co.uk/product-color/light-blue/ which should show in search results for this colour. I see that in my old admin centre there is a ‘colours’ option under ‘product tags’ when adding a new product. In the staging site there isn’t that option so where do I choose the colours for each product so that new products show in the colour filters?

    Yes, I now understand how to add colour circles to the attributes. I have done a couple and will fill the others in.

    5) I will leave the brands until later. I can do it on my old site but didn’t realise I had to fill in a new set of attributes for them.

    Hello,

    1) Check how the default Filter Products by Price widget and ‘Sort by’ option work with a default WooCommerce theme (Storefront). If the problem is independent of the theme, it means there is a problem with your imported products.
    2) About ‘Incorrect Apache directives inside .htaccess file’, I would recommend you to contact your hosting provider.
    3) About colors on ‘suspender belts’ category page – go to Products > Attributes > Colour > click on Pink products – http://prntscr.com/r6v9lc , you will see a list of products none of them has suspender belts category http://prntscr.com/r6va4q , so pink color can’t be shown in the sidebar filter for this category.
    About “Light Blue” – go to Products > Attributes > Colour > and check http://prntscr.com/r6vbk7 I am not sure why you have products on the live site, but on the staging “Light Blue” is empty. Maybe import was done incorrectly or this attribute was removed from products. You can open settings of “Sheer Blue Stockings in Regular or Plus Sizes” product and check attributes http://prntscr.com/r6ve3v > http://prntscr.com/r6ve8o
    We did not edit your products.

    I have no way of testing with storefront without changing the template I am working on. I can’t mess it up as I am not good with this stuff anyway.

    The backup of the site was completed using a staging tool, everything was exactly the same, it was an exact copy so all products were correctly imported.

    If you use the colour filters on the live site https://www.swankypins.co.uk/, you can see suspender belts in teal, pink, turquoise, purple, blue ect. that are not showing for whatever reason on the new template. all other categories seem to be okay.

    The colours for each product are chosen when adding a product using a ‘colours’ menu (underneath product categories and product tags) but there is no option on your template to choose colours for new products, so how is this done? Without this option where can I choose colours for individual products / change the ones that are not working? Are the attributes/colours not chosen when adding products?

    I will need to add colours somehow.

    I have a screenshot showing what i mean but cannot attach it.

    You did not help me about the price filter. Please can you check my earlier message regarding this, it does not work at all.

    i do not understand what i should be reading on the link you sent? It is just showing post types but what should I do with this?

    Hello,

    We have checked widgets with Storefront theme –
    http://prntscr.com/r7hg2b – filter by rating & filter by price are default WC widgets >
    but there is no filter by price on the frontend – https://prnt.sc/r7i4bl It means that the problem with price filtering is independent of the theme. Our own filter by price exists but works not good, as was mentioned by you, but it is not a theme bug, in your case.
    About sorting – http://prntscr.com/r7hjp8 – low to high sorting is also broken with Storefront theme.
    You can contact woocommerce plugin support with this question. Our theme technicians don’t see any issues from XStore theme and Core plugin sides and we think that the problem started while importing variable products into the database.
