I’m taking over a WordPress site from another developer and trying to update the Royal theme. It appears the last time they updated the theme was in 2017. When I install and activate the new version, I often get the fatal error. If I am able to get it to load, the header and footer of the site are gone and some of the other page formatting is off too. Is there a trick to updating from an old version of your theme.
I reverted back to the old version so our site would look normal again… so you won’t see the issues/errors right now on the live site. BUT, I did create a staging site and installed the latest theme version so you CAN see them there: http://jumbled-chalk.flywheelstaging.com
Hello,
Could you, please, make the staging site with the not updated theme there, just a total copy of the production site? Provide us with a temporary WP Dashboard and FTP access to your staging website after that. We’ll help you with theme update. If everything is ok on the staging site then we’ll be able to update production for you.
Regards
I have made the staging a copy of production. Login details in private content area.
Hello,
Do you know if that developer made changes in parent theme template files? Because I don’t see any files except empty functions.php and style.css in the child theme but at first look (can’t tell you more without FTP) theme structure looks different. We won’t be able to update the theme in case the parent theme files were changed because all this customization will be gone.
Regards
