Hi,
like many other users here, I’m having issues with the menu not appearing on desktop and mobile. I followed and applied previous advice posted but nothing works.
I understand the need for patches and updates but it seems heavy handed to remove any tools to mitigate these errors by a qualified WordPress Developer
Hello Adrian,
Thank you for contacting us and for using XStore.
You updated XStore Core plugin, but you did not update the theme. It caused the problem. Please never update Core before the theme update.
You need to update the theme – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-installation/theme-update/
Kind Regards,
8theme team
Custom work has been applied on the website, if we update the theme then the custom work will be deleted as a direct result. This is not a viable option
Furthermore, a 4 week old backup of the website was applied prior to any application of an “update” and the menu still doesnt appear
Hello Adrian,
In this case, there are 2 ways:
– downgrade Core plugin version;
– Update XStore parent theme (move the custom work into child theme files. In this case, you will not lose custom changes even after the parent theme update).
If your site is live, you can create a staging site (full copy) and do tests there first.

https://xstore.8theme.com/update-history/ – here you can find info about what version of Core should be used with what theme version – https://prnt.sc/5lk0c0Ld-Pgu https://prnt.sc/EY7dgZwCrEyG

Hi,
I am still having issues with this, its a great source of stress.
I have child theme enabled, as per your reply the child theme should not provide any issue but the menu is still gone.
If theme got updated then why has child theme customization been lost?
Hello, Adrian,
Thank you for your reply.
“I am still having issues with this” – yes, because you are using inappropriate versions of Core and theme still. Please follow our recommendations:
– downgrade the Core plugin version;
OR
– update the XStore parent theme.
“I have child theme enabled, as per your reply the child theme should not provide any issue but the menu is still gone.” – there is a misunderstanding.
The child theme inherits the functionality of the parent theme, you need to update the parent theme still.
“If theme got updated then why has child theme customization been lost?” – what exactly changes were lost?
Kind Regards,
8theme team
