Quick View ‘Add to Cart’ button does not work for products of “Variable Product” data type ONLY

When using Quick View of a product that has product variations, clicking “Add to Cart” causes button to freeze and loop forever (busy/progress icon appears forever), however item is actually added to the cart.

Icon shows “progress” spinning circle forever and never goes away. However, if a user manually reloads the page or goes to the cart, the item was indeed added to the cart!

When using Quick View of a “Simple Product” type, there is no issue when using Quick View to “Add to Cart” — the Quick View correctly closes and displays message “Product Added.”

Steps to repeat issue:
1) go to Shop Archive page (‘product collection’)
2) Find any product that has a product variation (for example “14KT WHITE GOLD PAPERCLIP BRACELET 3.8MM 7.5 INCHES” or “14KT YELLOW GOLD ANCHOR 4.2MM 18 INCHES”
3) Click the “Quick View”
4) Select any product variation (“Product Length”)
5) Click “Add to Cart”
