I am currently using your excellent XStore theme (along with a child theme) for my e-commerce website: abyatalamal.com. I am building the site primarily in Arabic (language code: ar).
Overall, the theme is great, but I am encountering some difficulties specifically with translating certain strings into Arabic, particularly those related to WooCommerce integration like the My Account / User Registration page.
Here’s a summary of what we’ve done and the issues we’re facing regarding translation:
Custom Registration Fields: We successfully added custom fields (First Name, Last Name, Phone) to the standard WooCommerce registration form using custom code in our child theme’s functions.php.
Custom Email Verification: We also implemented a custom email verification process using functions.php code.
Translation of Custom Strings: The custom strings we added ourselves within our PHP code using standard WordPress translation functions (like __( ‘My Custom Text’, ‘my-text-domain’ ) or directly embedding translatable text in hooks) are translating correctly into Arabic using tools like Loco Translate.
The Issue: The difficulty lies in translating some of the default strings presented by the theme or integrated from WooCommerce within the theme’s templates, specifically in the “My Account” area (Login/Register forms). Examples might include default field labels (if not overridden by our custom code), potentially button texts, error messages generated by WooCommerce but styled/presented by XStore, or other elements on that page. Despite using Loco Translate and scanning the theme and plugin files, some strings seem difficult to locate or aren’t reflecting the translation on the front end.
We have tried using Loco Translate to locate and translate the necessary strings by searching within the XStore theme and WooCommerce plugin files, but we are still facing challenges with certain specific elements on the My Account/Registration page context not displaying in Arabic as expected.
Could you please advise on the best approach to ensure all elements, especially the WooCommerce-related ones presented within the XStore theme structure (like the My Account page), are fully translatable into Arabic?
Is there a specific text domain we should prioritize or look for within Loco Translate for these elements?
Are there known complexities or specific steps required for translating WooCommerce strings when integrated with XStore?
Could there be a potential conflict with our customizations, even though our custom strings are translating?
Any guidance or suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated to help us achieve a fully localized Arabic experience for our customers.
Thank you for your time and fantastic theme.
Sincerely,
Dear @Abdulaziz,
Greetings!
Could you kindly provide us with some screenshots of the specific strings you would like to have translated? Additionally, we would appreciate it if you could clarify whether these strings are custom elements added through your child theme’s customization, or if they are standard strings from our main theme that have not been translated correctly.
If the strings are part of your child theme, we recommend referring to the Loco Translate plugin documentation for guidance on translating strings within a child theme.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Best regards,
Jack Richardson
