Advanced checkout: check required fields before next step – notification

Hi,
I would like to use the multi-level checkout in my shop.
Is it possible that the customer gets a notification if a required field is missing in the first step “invoice” before he can go to the next step “shipping”?

Until now, the notification only comes when he clicks on “buy now” at the last step. Then he has to go back to the “invoice” step.
