    Hello,

Please check if you have “Excerpt length(words)” in Theme Options > Blog Layout (the option can be missing because of old theme version on your site). In case the excerpt length can’t be selected via Theme Options, you can add excerpt text manually http://prntscr.com/jbvdco > http://prntscr.com/jbvdhv
Let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Hello,

    1) Do the backup of all your files and DB. Check the widgets and make sure that you know where every widget is placed because they could be messed up after the update.
    2) If you made any changes in template files move then into child theme
    3) Use FTP method to update theme. Remove royal/woocommerce folder from old copy before this to avoid the problem with the out of date files.
    4) Go to Theme Options > activate theme using your purchase code. Skip setup wizard.

If you want we can help you with theme update, just do steps 1-2 and then reply back to this topic and provide FTP and Dashboard access to your site.

    Hello,

We are sorry but we don’t know what changes have you done in old theme, so we can’t move them in child theme, unfortunately. If you made any changes and added some new features I would recommend to move them in child theme. And do all the changes in child theme files only to avoid problems with next updates.

    Hi Olga thank you.

    The history.
The theme was so outdated from the previously person i was unable to update and there was no child theme with the old version (until you move me to the current version) not say that it should have been one.
What is the process to move the custom templates and can you recognize them from the old theme that is still present in the themes folder. (you can see via FTP)

There is not issue with trying to move them if it causes issues this is easily sorted on my end as i have a daily back up of the site every day.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Any suggestion to help me get this back online welcome.

I also have lab running of the old site but with no child themes as the old set up.

    Hello,

We have moved some templates that we found but I’m not sure if this is everything that was changed. I would recommend you to contact the previous developer or create requirements specification and submit a request to WPKraken team.

Olga thank you for you continued support and i really appreciate your efforts.
The site is coming back there is one final observation and i cannot seem to get widget appearance to appear the appearance has disappeared. The available widgets are available but not the main side bar and footer widget areas
i also think this is the reason my footer are not showing on the web site.

    Any thoughts on this

    thanks in advance

    Johnny

    Hello,

Plugin Google Analyticator causes the issue on the Widgets page. Contact plugin author to solve the problem. When the plugin is deactivated we don’t have problems with adding widgets to widget areas.
