Hello, Jennifer,
Thank you for contacting us and for using XStore.
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns regarding the display of your recent blog posts on your homepage. We understand how important it is for all the details to be accurate and we’re here to help you resolve these issues.
Please provide temporary wp-admin access, so we can take a closer look. Also, temporarily disable caching and CDN.
To provide wp-admin access, you can create a new user account with administrator role via the Dashboard, and provide us with the username and password via the Private Content area.
Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
A new admin login has been created and the caching is disabled. I’m sorry but I have no idea how to disable CDN. I’m using WPEngine.
Hello, Jennifer,
While we checking your site we saw the styling changes (like switching from parent theme child theme – theme options settings are different), are you working there right now?
When you temporarily delete that particular post, the next one will be the first, does it have the same problem with the date, comments, and image link?
Kind Regards,
8theme team
I was in wordpress but haven’t made any changes since yesterday morning. I did try to create a new post and the same thing happened. I noticed my permalink settings are different and my pages look different now. The menu is on the right side now and it’s showing up on the homepage. My top header is also missing.
Hello, Jennifer,
It looks like the settings from Theme Options were reset.
Do you have a backup? Contact your hosting provider and ask about the backup.
We did nothing that may have caused this situation from your side, so it is strange.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
Fortunately, I was able to restore my backup from yesterday. Not sure what happened. I did try to create another post and the same thing happened with the date/link. It keeps using the date January 18th and the featured image links to the homepage.
Hello, Jennifer,
Please provide temporary wp-admin access one more time.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
Admin account created again.
Hello, Jennifer,
Unfortunately, the access you provided does not allow us to access the Dashboard. To proceed with your request, we kindly ask that you set the administrator role for the user account you’ve created. This will enable us to have the necessary permissions to assist you effectively.
Also, please provide FTP access.
To create FTP access (FTP host, FTP username, FTP password, FTP port, FTP encryption) , please contact your hosting provider for assistance.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
Sorry, account is now set to admin. SFTP credentials also created. Please let me know if this is what you need.
Hello, Jennifer,
Once we log in and go to edit the Home page your settings disappear like previously.
We did not face such a problem before on sites of other our customers.
Please restore Backup and then try to log in using the credentials you provided for us and click on edit home page, to check if the problem with settings disappearing persists.
Contact your hosting provider and ask what can be a reason for this.
We’ve taken Home page content from your site to our test site, and posts in chess there are displayed just fine with the correct date and link.
Please make sure that the problem on your site is not caused by a 3rd party plugin or custom code.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
I restored the backup and tried logging in with the new user and it reset everything. Restored the backup again and everything is still messed up. I tried exporting the theme settings and importing again but the header and footer are all wrong. Had to rebuild both in order to keep the admin user. Seems like anytime I update a plugin or add a user it resets to the theme default settings. Is this an issue with WP Engine?
Hello, Jennifer,
Personally, I did not face such a situation before. Please contact the support of your hosting provider and maybe WordPress support with this question. It looks like not only the Theme Options are affected but Widgets (for example your footer content) too.
Additionally, we would like you to verify the following:
– Does the issue persist if third-party plugins are disabled?
– Has there been any manipulation of the database?
– Are there modifications in our theme files?
– Are there modifications to the child theme, or does the bug persist if it is disabled?
Kind Regards,
8theme team
I think I figured it out. It’s the WP Affiliate Disclosure causing the date issue. I changed themes and that didn’t help so I disabled all third party plugins and activated one by one. Turned that one back on and the date reverts to January 18th.
Hello, Jennifer,
Thank you for letting us know.
We can see next on your Home page https://prnt.sc/e2ErrnbIw4U- and single post page https://prnt.sc/faHkUiduHlF_ , so the problem is solved.
Please note that we do not give a guarantee for full theme compatibility with all existing 3rd party plugins. Sometimes, not always, you need additionally customize the theme or plugin to make them work together. Unfortunately, it’s not possible for the author to make the theme compatible with all the existing plugins and additional customization is outside the scope of our basic support.
If a problem is caused by 3rd-party plugin, we would recommend you contact the support of that plugin.
Hope this information is helpful.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
