Did you back up the site before updating? There is plugin that copies everything over before you upgrade. Definitely worth checking out, and backing up is a must.

Also, it sounds like you installed the demo content again. If you made a back up, I’d revert to the original. If you didn’t, you might be a little screwed, or you have multiple homepages, custom css pages, etc.

I’d also recommend WPEngine for hosting, they have a similar staging area to test out themes and plugins and a quick backup and revert process.

    Good lukc

This theme has been nothing but issues. I posted another thread because customers can’t place orders (slight issue!!!) and Google Analytics won’t integrate no matter what tool, plugin, or built in option I use. And now to top it off, I can’t update the theme without getting an error.

Still waiting for help, very frustrated, and considering pulling this site and my other client’s site (on Royal) off these themes onto one that we can get to work successfully if we can’t get this fixed ASAP. *sigh* so frustrating because I really like the look of these themes, but they need to actually work too.

i have a backup. i am currently using updraft plus. So what is the best way to update a theme w/o scattering your site into pieces? Which method would u say is best/safest to restore my backup?

Best way is actually to create a child theme, so you can customize there and update without issues.

CJ – sorry to hear it. I’ve managed to make it work, but I found issues with certain plugins (Woocommerce Wishlist – I mean c’mon!) and too many products reeeeealy slows the site down (though only when there are tons of attributes too).

Let me know if you need a hand. I’m in no way an expert, but I’ve figured out how to customize through custom css and make it work.

I tried to restore my site with updraft plus and it worked… I think . even though i received an INTERNAL ERROR page. Thanks lee for the advice.. I’ll be back on this thread if anything changes. Can i still setup a child theme even though the site is already built?

Yes, you can add a child theme even though the site is built, but that is not something I’ve done, only something I read about. I’d do a little googling and see what’s out there on child themes.

If you don’t go with the child theme approach, make sure you copy your custom.php css file, theme function file, and any other files you edited.

Then use the plugin Easy Theme and Plugin Upgrades. Make sure you only upload the “Legenda” zip file, not the zip with all the demo content.

    That worked for me.

your info is all very helpful. When i updated i used the v2.5 zip that was provided. I just seem to always have issues with this theme. My woocommerce has some outdated parts as well even though it’s updated to the latest version, go figure lol.

looks great, thanks! i was wondering if you knew why it tells me this “Your theme has bundled outdated copies of WooCommerce template files”? I know some function like setting Bulk Edits on Variable products doesn’t currently work, wondering if it has to do with that message.

Sorry but I have to re-open this topic. Today things were going fine, I added some products, etc. Finally I went to change a font color, I hit save changes and BOOM my site turns into LEGENDA again. Specifically some styling, spacing and my header is completely changed. Any advice on why this is happening to me? thanks

    Hello,

We recommend you to check log files of the site for any errors on a server.
Ask you host to look into them, some reason may be found.
Also try to restore the site and we’ll update the theme again.

    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

I checked my error logs there is nothing. I checked my Access logs as well but i’m not sure what to look for. I did not want to restore again because I will have lost everything I did for 1 day which is about 8 hours of work. this is the 2nd time this has happened and all around the same time I hit SAVE CHANGES under theme options. If nothing is coming up in the logs, then you suggest I keep restoring when it decides to break?

    Hello carlatgallardo@gmail.com,

In this case you need use custom.css file or Child Theme and after the new theme update, you don’t have to worry.
Here is a video tutorial how to create custom.css: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qok2zRedRMY&feature=youtu.be.
Read more here about Child Theme: https://www.8theme.com/demo/docs/legenda/index.html#!/child_theme

    Hi there,

How do I create a form, similar to the Contact Us form? I would like to create a separate page for product submissions.

    Cheers
