Something seems to have updated in background? As I had not been editing or doing anything over weekend, and now as I try to login and edit today, getting stuck with this error. I searched and saw that user ‘coffeedog’ had same issue, he seemed to have resolved by deactivating and reactivating Elementor he says—but I cannot replicate this solution.
This is the exact error I see both in the Elementor editor when trying to access Xstore > Theme Options OR when trying to preview my site:
ElementorPro\Modules\Woocommerce\Widgets\Product_Add_To_Cart::handle_control_position: Cannot add a control outside of a section (use start_controls_section
).
Pretty desperate to resolve this so I can keep working. Thanks in advance for any direction.
Hello, Sethr,
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
The problem is caused by new Elementor plugin update. Our dev team was informed and we hope Elementor will deal with it also, because the problem appeared not with our theme only.
As a temporary solution, please downgrade the plugin version – https://wordpress.org/plugins/elementor/advanced/ (select a specific version to download).
Thank you for your cooperation.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
Hello, Sethr,
Could you please provide temporary wp-admin and FTP access?
To provide wp-admin access, you can create a new user account with administrator role via the Dashboard, and provide us with the username and password via the Private Content area.
To create FTP access (FTP host, FTP username, FTP password, FTP port, FTP encryption) , please contact your hosting provider for assistance.

Hi Rose Tyler, I have the same error. My site is not working now. I enter wp-admin data and ftp data into private contect area. I would appreciate your help.
My website came back to life after disabling the PRO Elements plugin.
Hello, Radek,
We kindly request that you verify the current functionality and inform us of the outcome at your earliest convenience.

Hello, I see in responses here to downgrade… I trust that would work—but then later responses say to download and install latest version of Elementor and Elementor Pro.
I did it for Elementor—this by the way did not solve the problem.
But for Pro, I have never activated Pro in my site, and therefore do not know how to get the latest Pro plugin—do I even need to if I haven’t activated it? Or am I missing something—like did Xstore come with Pro features/installed? Is there a way for me to get Pro some other way? I am kind of confused regarding the Elementor Pro aspect here.
As requested, i have provided Private area content.
Thank you in advance.
Hello, Sethr,
You provided wp-admin access, but we can’t log in using them.
Also, we asked for FTP access.
You do not need Elementor Pro, please do not worry.
Please download elementor.php file by link in the Private Content area and re-uploading it into xstore/framework/compatibility folder via FTP.
Let us know if it solves your problem.
Kind Regards,

Rose Tyler, thank you for such a fast reply. Not sure what was wrong with creds, and SORRY i didn’t follow direction clearly to give you FTP instead.
However, per your last instruction—I have installed the file you provided via FTP on my side and i’m back to working!!
I have not had a chance to fully test yet, but feel that i’m on the right track. Thank you so much. I am resolved on this issue for now.
