    Hello

I have a site published with a lot of content and I am going to switch to the child theme so that when I update I dont lose any changes.

You have been helping me a lot and have changed some of my files. I’m scared to change to the child theme because im not sure which ones were changed and I want to retain the changes.

The only changes ive made are to the custom css. How do I move these to the child theme – just copy the code in custom.css into style.css in the child theme?

    Thank you very much

    Julia

    Hello,

Please read this article how to create child theme before making any changes.
Yes, you need copy the code from custom.css to style.css located in your child theme folder.

    Hi Eva

I have already created a child theme. That’s fine.

What i’m asking about is copying the files you and Jack kindly edited for me (when I needed some changes made) into the child theme. I’m not sure which files you changed. Can you please tell me which files I need to copy over to the child theme, before updated the theme.

    Thank you

jack just sent a message saying you dont need to copy custom.css over to the child theme? im confused.

I need to update your theme. Because you made changes to my files, it is my understanding that in order to update the theme without losing those changes I need to use a child theme.

To be clear – I need to know what files to included in my child theme in order not to lose the changes you made.

I have already set up the child theme as per the instructions you sent me and it is ready to activate in my themes folder.

    Thank you

The changes were made to the files et-registration.php and header.php located in your theme folder. You need copy them into child theme directory not to lose the changes.
Yes, you don’t need copy custom.css file itself, just copy the code and insert it into the style.css file in the child theme folder.

    hi guys

ive updated the theme and everything is working well.

i checked the parent theme details and it says 1.5. the child says version 1.4 – do i need to do anything with this or does it matter?

    thank you

    Hello,

It doesn’t matter. You probably have added the following: Version: 1.4 line of code in your style.css of child theme.

    oh ok yes thank you.

Unfortunately when i updated the changes you made to delete the additonal information tab has been wiped and now the additional information tab is showing.

Im sorry, i thought you told me to just copy the registration and header file over to child.

Are you able to make those changes again for me?

It was deleting the additonal information tabs from showing (when i have a variable product it automatically shows with size and color etc).

I have put my log in details below.

    Thank you
