    Hello,

I attempted to create a child theme using normal WordPress standards (as shown on the child theme documentation). When activated though, several parts of the site are broken.

When referencing the Royal theme documentation, it says to use the child theme included with the theme files. However, there was no child theme included.

Can you please advise on what needs to be done to create a working Royal child theme?

    Thanks

    Hello,

I’ve uploaded “royal-child” folder in wp-content/themes directory. You can activate child theme in Appearance > Themes.
Also please update the theme to the latest version and Woocommerce as well.
Before update delete “woocommerce” folder in the directory wp-content/themes/royal/ and it’ll be reuploaded from a new theme package.
Also update all required plugins https://www.8theme.com/download-plugins/ .

Don’t forget to create back up of your files and database before starting update process!

(it’s for Legenda theme but the process is the same).

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

I just activated the child theme you created, and now it really broke the site. You can check it out to see what I mean. Please advise ASAP – switching back to the main Royal theme doesn’t fix the problem. Its broken no matter what now.

    Please, contact administrator
    for this information.

    Hello,

I’ve renamed your old theme version to “royal_1.5.1” in wp-content/themes directory and uploaded new theme version.
Please clear browser cache and check your site now.

    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.

    Ok, thats definitely progress!

Now however, I can’t re-import my theme options. Clicking the “import” link doesn’t open the box to paste in my content like before.

    Hello,

I’ve just checked “Import Options” link in Theme Options > Import/Export and the box is shown:

Please clear browser cache and check again.

Ok. I was able to get it to open in another browser.

That said, it still didn’t actually update the options after import. I have to go back through and reset all options manually.
