Hello,
I am confused in regards to the child theme and parent theme.
It gave me the option when installing the theme to download the child theme.
When i go to the themes page, it shows child theme as activated.
1) Does this mean all the changes i am making are happening on the child theme?
2) Does this mean if i delete the child theme that all the changes i make will be gone?
3) Is the parent theme still “working” even if it is not activated? Meaning will the theme get the updates that the developers make or will i need to activate the parent theme for this to happen?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
I appreciate your time and feedback!
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Hello, @TFS,
1.. Yes, the changes you will make. will work in the child theme. No need to worry about its safe.
2.. Child theme is connected with the parent theme. If you make your site using a child theme and then you need to delete the child theme then it is possible that the changes no longer work so before deleting the child theme first export all the settings by activating the child theme and navigate to the Dashboard >> XSTORE >> Theme Options >> Export/Import and then first export the settings then you can delete the child theme and activate the parent theme then again go to this option and import the exported file so that all the settings will import in the parent theme. 3.. As I said that the child theme is connected with the parent theme so it doesn’t matter you will get the update notification if the child theme is activated on your site.

Hello Awais,
Thanks for your detailed answers!
I just had one more question, Do I really need the Child theme to be activated and what is the main reason for the child theme?
I personally don’t know anything about coding or in regards to making themes/changing code etc. So should I keep the child theme or just remove it overall and just keep the parent theme.
I have heard that child themes are for people who edit the code and make changes that way.
I personally will not be editing any sort of code.
I will just be making basic changes such as the the top menu, the footer section, the home page, adding products and more pages to the theme for my website. All done via Elementor and other plugins of that nature.
Thanks for your advice on this matter.
Also, does your theme have the custom CSS option in the appearance section?
I cannot see anything in regards to that.
In the other themes I have used, they provide that function.
Does this mean your theme does not provide that option for custom CSS to be added via that tab. So the child theme must be installed in this case?
Sorry, also called “Additional CSS”
Hello, @TFS,
1. If you need to edit just the header, footer, pages, and products of your site and you don’t need to customize your site via customization then you don’t need the child theme. Because basically child theme is used for customization purposes. Like if you need to add a customization code you will use the child theme so that whenever you update the parent theme your customization will never be lost. But as you said you will not add any customization so you don’t need the child theme you can delete the child theme and use the parent theme.
2. Simply go to the Dashboard >> XSTORE >> Theme Options >> Theme Custom CSS there you will be adding the custom CSS code this option is coming from our theme see image for a better reference: https://postimg.cc/CZtj01tM and https://postimg.cc/RqwcrvT9

Hello Awais,
Yes, I will not make any changes like that so I will not need the child theme.
If I will make any small additions, I will add it via the Custom CSS tab in the theme (image you provided)
I will just keep the parent theme and not use the child theme.
Thanks for the clarification!
Have a great day ahead.
