I just about fell over today when I saw that my client’s site (via the WP dashboard) had 499 comments in less than 3 weeks of being live. (I knew this wasn’t possible with only 2 blog posts, and no product reviews to approve.) I click on the link, and it says that there are no comments. Some quick sleuthing and I figure out those “comments” are actually the count of the “order notes.”

Can I request this fix for a future version? Request that those notes not be classed as “comments” or however they are classed to include them in that dashboard count? The dashboard is meant to be a bird’s eye view, especially for the less technically-inclined, and that makes things confusing. Comments are something to be seen to, where as order notes are just data.

    thanks,
    Dinnae

Thanks Robert, but I HAVE Akismet running – these are NOT SPAM COMMENTS. Please re-read my post – the comment count I am seeing is NOT referring to real comments, it is referring to the order notes. The site has had no comments as of yet.

The order notes are those that are added to each order when the stock of each item is changed (when stock management is on), as well as those added manually by either the customer or the shop manager/admin. Every single one of those is counted as a “comment” in the dashboard view. This means that now, after less than a month of her site being live, my client’s dashboard says that she has 585 comments, when in reality, she has none.

This is a glitch that needs to be fixed, again, to re-iterate, the Dashboard is meant to be a quick-look access for a site admin to see where their time is needed. For example, my client won’t think to look and respond to comments if that number isn’t accurate.

    Thanks,
    Dinnae

    Hello,

I’ve just checked your admin panel and haven’t found count of comments and number of orders are shown under Woocommerce > Orders
