Hi,
Usign Xtheme and great so far. We’ve just started adding Composite Products using the Woocommerce Composite Products extension. We would like to display the chosen PRODUCT NAME and DESCRIPTION once selected.
At this stage it only displays the product thumbnail and price when I make a selection from the dropdown.
We looked at the options on the ‘Advanced Panel’ and is has the option to HIDE these fields… but they are already hidden by default and do not display?
Any suggestions?
Thx,
Deon
Hello,
Provide, please, link to product with problem and also temporary admin panel access. I’ll check what can be the reason of your issue.

Hello,
This is a very, very urgent one for us. I will forward login details to Olga’s email, because this is not my thread for private content. We have similar problems and Composite products are one of the two pieces of functionality at the heart of our business model.
FYI We have noticed that the last product option in a composite’s component actually does show the product description when the component is set to Thumbnail view, the others wrongly do not.
BTW you can configure composite components to be populated by a category of products OR specific products. I had previously noticed that selecting by categories did not work. Selecting products did, whether or not the above information was missing I don’t recall. Now the category selection appears to be working, but the Composites plugin has not been updated. But the theme has had a few updates. I mention this in case it assists with debugging, as you will know what is happening in your coding developments.
Thanks in advance, this one is a worry for us and Composites are a very mainstream plugin.
Best wishes,
R.
Hi again,
FYI login sent to olga.barlow@xstore-support-d7ac56c5c7c3.mail.intercom.io and
8themes@gmail.com.
Ok, I am going to look at this again tomorrow. I reverted a cloned site to the barebones storefront theme out of curiosity and same problem there. So I guess another plugin might be causing an issue. I shall have to trial and error it…
Hello,
We are able to help you only in case issue appears with our theme only. If you have the same issue with default theme too then you need to check the plugins that you use and its settings. Contact with plugin author to solve the problem.

Hi there,
Yes, I had already marched ahead with that. Hopefully Woo themselves sort this – as this is their plugin!
Best wishes,
R
Hello,
Ok. Thank you for using our theme. Feel free to contact us in case you have any questions. Have a good day.

Hi,
Please send me your direct email so that I can share the admin details.
I also have a further query – if I add a composite product to the cart, and then want to edit the composite product it links back to the main composite – and NOT the customisation that was added to the cart. This is the feedback that I received from WooThemes about the error – seems it is somewhere in the theme… Please help:

Thanks for contacting WooCommerce!
By default, in your cart, if you click on the main Composite product name, the URL contains the option settings.
For example, on my test site, the product name in the cart links to:
Which as you can see has the quantities and attribute (size) for the components entered so they remain selected on the product page when you return.
Looking at your site, when I click on Gryphon PC in your cart, the URL is simply:
http://pcint.dieselbrook.co.za/product/gryphon-pc/
So it is returning to the page without the variables for all the options, so they are not selected when returning.
Usually issues like this may be caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another WordPress plugin. We usually address this type of problem by asking you to temporarily disable all plugins except for WooCommerce (and the extension), and switch back to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Fifteen or Storefront. You can just do a Live Preview under Appearance with one of these themes and browse to that page and test. If it works there, then it’s a theme issue.
I see your theme is overriding a lot of templates, such as xstore/woocommerce/cart/cart.php so trying a different theme will see if that’s the cause.
If that resolves the issue, then slowly re-enable the theme first, and then plugins one at a time until you find the one that’s causing the conflict.
Let us know if this works for you, thanks!

Hello,
They did not tell you that problem caused by our theme. They told you to check if you have your problem even with official theme (Storefront) or with our theme only. I have asked you to do the same. Please, go to Appearance > Themes > and enable default woocommerce theme – Storefront. Check if you still have the problem. If problem persists with Storefront theme you need to reply back to WooCommerce support email and tell them about it.
Reply back to me if problem persists with our theme only!
Regards
Hi. I have loaded the default woocommerce storefront theme.
When I click on the composite product that was added to my cart it takes me to the custom configuration that was selected before adding to my cart. Here is what the URL looks like for the link back to the product when clicked from the cart (It keeps all the options in the querystring):

When I revert back to the XSTORE Theme – this is what the URL looks like:
http://pcint.dieselbrook.co.za/product/brave-armadillo/
It seems that the XSTORE Theme is removing the details from the querystring which then makes it impossible for the user to go back and make changes to the product.
Hi,
When can I expect some feedback on this? Please get back to me ASAP.
Thx,
Deon
Hello,
Sorry for some delay in answering. Could you, please, provide also FTP access to your site. Our developers will try to fix your problem.

Hi there,
I can confirm I saw this “URL in cart back to composite customisation” issue too (https://www.8theme.com/topic/composite-products-display-product-name-description-in-options/#post-146014).
Is there any update on this problem from investigating Deon’s site? I know he asked for an email, but I don’t know what happened in the background via email.
BTW if anyone has a problem with descriptions not showing, Woocommerce Composites does not use descriptions. It shows short description, otherwise known as the excerpt. This was driving me mad with trial and error circles and had nothing to do with themes or plugins… poor documentation by Woocommerce themselves.
Hello,
@deon@dieselbrook.co.za, we got FTP access. Our expert will try to solve the problem on Monday. I’ll keep you in touch.
@RR123, If this issue related to our theme only, please, describe me your problem in details and I’ll try to help you.
Regards
Hello, @deon@dieselbrook.co.za, @RR123,
We have fixed the issue and this fix will be included in next theme update.
@@deon@dieselbrook.co.za, you may check the product on your site. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Regards
That’s great Olga. Thank you.
When can we expect this?
R
Hello,
I think the new update will be available within a week.
Regards
Hi again, did this make the last update?
Hello,
Last update includes fix for this issue.
Regards
fabulous.
thank you olga
You are welcome!

Hi there,
I am on the latest theme version (3.2), but still see the issue in https://www.8theme.com/topic/composite-products-display-product-name-description-in-options/#post-146014.
The cart item URL still just goes back to the basic product link, without the full parameter set.
This fix ‘super definitely’ made the update? Perhaps the temp fix for Deon is in place on his, so he wouldn’t see if the update didn’t carry the fix.
Many thanks again,
R
Hello, @RR123
Could you, please, provide me temporary admin panel and FTP access to your site and also link to this kind of product. We’ll check why our fix does not work for you.
Regards
Sure thing – details in the private bit.
You can see the raw URL with the lack of necessary parameters in the cart, checkout and completed order pages. So I guess something didn’t ‘take’ across the board.
Many thanks!
R.
Hello, @RR123,
Fixed. Check, please.
Regards
Hello,
Thanks for that.
Where is the change? I need to reimplement away from the dev site.
Festive wishes,
R
And will the change just done survive theme updates?
Also, will that functionality now work in future fresh reinstalls of theme if ever necessary?
Thanks again,
R
Hello,
Changes were made in xstore/woocommerce/cart/cart.php We’ll include these changes in next theme update.
Regards
Ok dokey – we do need to make sure it will be ok for the next update.
Thanks for addressing.
Festive wishes,
R.
