    Dear @PS,

We hope this message finds you well.

We kindly request that you check your website now. The issue occurred because the template folder was renamed to a custom name, while the child theme was still referencing the old parent theme template. As a result, certain functions were missing from the files, leading to fatal errors on the frontend.

The issue has now been addressed.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

    Best regards,

    Hello,
thanks for your help so far!
There are a few errors in the backend left. Could you tell me how to handle updates in the future? I think this website was infected, is this maybe the source of the problem?
    Thank you in advance,
    best regards,

    Dear @PS,

We hope this message finds you well.

It has come to our attention that you have made modifications to the folder names of both the parent and child themes. Due to these changes, the default update functionality is unable to process the update automatically.

To update the XStore theme under these circumstances, please follow the steps outlined below:

    1. Log in to your account on the 8theme.com website and download the latest theme archive from the “Downloads” section.
    2. Unzip the downloaded archive directly on your server in wp-content/themes/ folder.
    3. Rename the existing parent theme folder by adding a prefix (e.g., “-old”) to its name.
    4. Rename the newly unzipped folder to match the original name of your brand’s parent theme folder.

Please note that we generally do not recommend making such modifications to theme folder names, as it can lead to complications with updates and functionality. However, since these changes have already been made, the above steps are the only solution to proceed with the update.

Additionally, the notices you are currently seeing can be disregarded. These notices are appearing because the system is unable to detect the original parent theme due to the custom folder name you have set.

Should you have any further questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson
