    Dear Support Team,

I am currently creating a page that is intended for multiple categories. On this page, a large number of products will be displayed later, approximately 1000. Therefore, I need a proper search function for the product view that allows customers to find their target quickly.
The decisive factor here is that we want to work with very few categories, as this would be extremely time-consuming for the number of products. According to the structure, there is one main category and there will be a total of 9 subcategories.

However, there should not only be 9 filter criteria, but it should be possible to filter specifically without having to set/select countless categories.

Therefore, my question is: Are there ways to filter by, for example, “language”, even though there is no category called “language”?

Additionally, the filter function should not work for the entire shop, but only for the one main category.

We want to keep the effort for the project as small as possible.

Thank you very much in advance!

    Best regards,
    Lars

    Dear @Crispy123,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Currently, product filter widgets are not compatible with custom pages. The product categories filter is designed to function only on the shop page or product archive pages.

To address this, we suggest the following approach:

    1. Create a parent category that includes nine child categories, as outlined below:

       Parent Category
       --- Child Category 1
       --- Child Category 2
       --- Child Category 3
       ...
       --- Child Category 8
       --- Child Category 9

    2. Using Elementor, create a product archive builder template and assign it to the parent category.

    3. Design a custom sidebar and select it within the sidebar element of the archive builder template created in the previous step.

We hope this solution meets your requirements. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Best regards,
    The 8Theme Team

Thank you very much for the support; the explanation has brought me a step closer to my goal.

I still have an issue with the “Filter Side Bar,” as I would like to filter by the 9 specific categories here. However, all categories are being displayed. Is there a way to edit this widget or create a new widget to show only these 9 categories in the sidebar?

Thank you in advance and best regards.

    Dear @Crispy123,

Can you please send us the URL of that category? Maybe we can hide the other categories with custom CSS codes.

    Thank you!

In other words, I would like to have a filter on the product archive that limits the selection criteria of the ‘Products Grid’ to certain products. Essentially, a filter bar that does not apply to the entire shop but instead filters the product listing by categories on a specific page, hiding the rest. I believe this will make it easier for our customers to quickly find their desired product, especially as we plan to have a wide range of different products in the future. Thanks again and best regards.

    Dear @Crispy123,

We hope this message finds you well.

By default, when visiting a category archive page, if it contains child categories, only the child categories will be displayed, as shown in the following screenshot: https://prnt.sc/vAQjTg_IklpQ.

In this scenario, there is no need to implement any custom code to hide other categories.

We have saved the archive template accordingly. Could you kindly review it at your convenience?
