My client did a search for their website and the results in Google said (keeping the site name private):

    NAME OF COMPANY
    URL OF COMPANY
A description for this result is not available because of this site’s robots.txt – learn more.

When clicking the “learn more” link: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6062608?hl=en&rd=1

They definitely need the ability for web spiders to crawl their site. Please let me know what to do. Sending screenshot and FTP information in Private Content.

    Thanks!

    Please, contact administrator
    for this information.

    Hi Eva,

What the error was stating is that there is a robots.txt file already created (not by me), that is blocking Google (and other search engines) from crawling the site. A robots.txt file BLOCKS search engine spiders.

A theme should always come with the option to put a description tag on the site so people can find the site by doing a search.

I’m not sure where the robots.txt file can be found, but based on the error message, my conclusion is that one exists, and that it must have been included with the theme files.

    Hello,

There is no robots.txt file in the theme folder as well as in the root of your site.
You can check it via FTP.
We recommend you to contact some SEO specialists concerning this issue or create robots.txt file due to the instruction.

    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Eva Kemp.
