    Hi,
Before installation XStore, I had favicon generator plugin installed and it displayed correctly. After installing XStore and updating the favicon items it does not update the search engine favicon when searching for the site.

I have tried to disable the plugin and use the site builder site identity tool to display the favicon. It displays the favicon on the tab but search engine results show previous icon. Can you please provide some assistance?

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern regarding the favicon display issue on search engines after installing XStore. We understand how important it is for your site’s favicon to display correctly across all platforms.

Please follow this article – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/troubleshooting/how-to-add-custom-favicon/

Based on your description, it seems that the issue might be related to the caching mechanisms used by search engines. Often, search engines will cache favicons for a period, and changes might not reflect immediately. Here are a few steps you can take to potentially resolve the issue:

    1. **Clear Browser and Server Cache:** Ensure that you have cleared your browser cache and, if applicable, your server cache. This can sometimes help in refreshing the content that is served to search engines.

    2. **Re-submit your URL to Search Engines:** You can try re-submitting your site’s URL to search engines. This can sometimes prompt them to refresh their cached data, including favicons.

    3. **Use a Different Favicon File Name:** If the issue persists, try renaming the favicon file and updating the link in your website’s header. Search engines might recognize this as a new element and refresh the cached icon.

    4. **Check for Redirects:** Ensure that there are no redirects interfering with the direct access to your favicon file.

    5. **Wait for Automatic Update:** Sometimes, the simplest solution is to wait, as search engines will eventually update their cached information, including favicons.

If you have tried these steps and still face issues, please let us know. We are here to assist you further and ensure that your experience with XStore is smooth and beneficial.

    Best Regards,
    8Theme’s Team
