Filter shop page by product variation to auto change all variant images

Is it possible for product variation images to all change on the main shop grid page. For example if I filter the shop by the colour BLUE I would like all the product images in the shop to show the BLUE specific variable image.

Is this currently possible and if not is there a way of making this happen?

Please note: I don’t mean on a single product page, I mean on the global shop grid page.
