Hello!
First of all I dont actually understand how the filter widget works. I saw the products store list demo page with a widget to list the products and after that a widget for filtering called (sidebars/filters) so I thought you just needed to put it together for it to somehow work together, but the truth is that when I do that in a custom page nothing seems to make it work, and I don’t see any settings to connect both widgets…
Still, that same thing is working on the demo page for the “Products Archive Builder”. But the problem is that every time I hit the filter it ignores completely the page I am and gives me all the categories in the store, and not the subcategories of the category page I am in the moment. Is that not possible? I don’t want someone to click on a category from the homepage and then inside it to see 100 categories from all the store. That shouldn’t be the behaviour. After I am inside a category I should be able to have a filter that only shows me the subcategories inside that category page.
Can you please help?
Thanks in advance!
‘Btw the interaction designs of the template is great!
Hello, Marco,
I hope this message finds you well.
I would like to inform you that the category filter operates as follows: it displays all products assigned to a specific category, taking into account other filters such as attributes, ratings, price, etc.
Unfortunately, it does not function according to the algorithm you described. If you wish to have this feature implemented, you may submit a request at our task board: https://www.8theme.com/taskboard/
Should there be sufficient interest from the community, we will consider its development.
Additionally, you may request customization services by visiting the following link: https://www.8theme.com/account/#etheme_customization_panel
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Best Regards,
The 8Theme Team
Hello Andrew!
Thank you for your reply.
Even without the option to have a filter inside each category, I don’t get how do you choose what categories show up in the list.
In my particular scenario (take a look at the 2 screenshots I attached) I have something like 10 categories and some of them have subcategories. As you can see in the screenshots, the mobile side menu lists all the categories very well, but then the Filter lists only 6 categories mixed with subcategories in a way that I don’t understand.
How do I choose what categories can appear in the filter?
I hope this message finds you well. Regarding the category filter, the categories displayed are dependent on specific settings. For instance, you can adjust these under:
1. Customizer -> WooCommerce (Shop) -> Shop -> Shop Page Layout -> Hide Categories With All Hidden Products
Additionally, please check the following settings:
2. WP Dashboard -> WooCommerce -> Settings -> Products -> Inventory -> Out of Stock Visibility
We recommend reviewing these settings to ensure they meet your requirements.

Hello Andrew!
This is actually doing almost what I was asking first. The behaviour of the filter takes into account the current category page I am into. When I am inside a particular category, the filter will only show me that category and the sub-categories of that parent category. But thats actually bad when I choose one sub-category, because this filter is designed with “checkboxes”, so the ideia would be that I checked a sub-category to filter, but the behaviour will be a page reload to enter that sub-category and the filters will be clean. I will not see the checkbox of the filter checked anymore. I will only see the actual sub-category listed and possible child categories inside of it. All of this behaviour is nonsense.
Why is all these filter with options to choose or to check boxes but when you do it you only see a page reload and the filter is cleaned up?
Hello, Marco,
I hope this message finds you well. We are currently in the process of diagnosing an issue and require access to the administrative panel and FTP. Could you please provide us with the necessary credentials at your earliest convenience? This will greatly assist us in resolving the matter efficiently.
Thank you for your attention to this request.
Best regards,
8Theme’s Team
Hello Andrew,
here’s the admin access in private.
For the FTP access it will be more difficult. The DevOps told me that he cant give access to this website specific folder so that’s a problem, do you really need it?
Thanks!
Best regards,
Marco
Dear @Marco,
I hope this message finds you well. We would like to emphasize the importance of having complete access to your website’s backend. In instances where a missing comma or similar minor error occurs in the code, it could potentially lead to critical errors that disrupt the functionality of your website. Such issues can be challenging to resolve, especially if administrative access is restricted due to these errors.
Having full access would allow us to promptly address and rectify any issues, thereby minimizing any downtime and avoiding prolonged disruptions to your website’s operation. This precautionary measure ensures that we can maintain the stability and performance of your site without significant delays, which might occur while retrieving the correct FTP credentials.
We trust you understand the necessity of this request and its importance in ensuring the smooth and continuous operation of your website.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your affirmative response.
Best regards,
Jack Richardson

I thought you have already done that with that email you provided. Dear @Marco,
I hope this message finds you well.
We apologize for the delay in resolving the connectivity issues you have been experiencing, and for our delayed response over the weekend. Our team is still encountering some challenges while attempting to connect to your account.
To facilitate a swift resolution, could you kindly provide us with a video tutorial detailing the correct procedure for establishing a connection? Hello Jack! I am sorry but it’s very hard to believe that a video tutorial is needed for the developers to use a FTP connection to the website. You guys were the ones asking me to give you FTP connection to the website and now you’re asking me a tutorial to do it?
Also, I think you still didn’t accept the invitation I’ve sent to “8theme.dev@gmail.com”. Again, you need to accept that to be able to access the website.
Flywheel have a tutorial for the ones that are not very familiar with FTP connection, but again, I find it very hard to believe that you guys are asking me for an FTP access and you dont know how to just connect via FTP to our website?
https://getflywheel.com/wordpress-support/sftp-access-and-uploads/
Again, like I said many times, the access details are the ones in that tutorial and the ones I already gave you and I am giving you again:
protocol: SFTP
host: sftp.flywheelsites.com
login type: normal
username and password: for this will be the username and the password you guys already use to access your flywheel account.
Hello, Marco,
We hope this message finds you well.
Please be informed that the following link:
https://getflywheel.com/wordpress-support/sftp-access-and-uploads/
currently provides access to a CSV file only, which does not contain any access credentials.
Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,
8Theme’s Team
What?
wtf? “a CSV file only, which does not contain any access credentials” ??? What are you talking about??? Thats a freaking link that TEACHS YOU HOW TO ACCESS A WEBSITE WITH FTP BECAUSE YOU LITERALLY ASKED ME FOR A VIDEO FOR YOU TO KNOW HOW TO DO SOMETHING THAT YOU ASKED ME ACCESS FOR!
AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN HERE’s the freaking access for you to access the website via FTP:
Again, like I said many times, the access details are the ones in that tutorial and the ones I already gave you and I am giving you again:
protocol: SFTP
host: sftp.flywheelsites.com
login type: normal
username and password: for this will be the username and the password you guys already use to access your flywheel account.
omg, really, what is happening here? I am asking for help since July 15, 2024 at 18:29. What support am I getting here for god’s sake??
AGAIN. YOU GUYS ASKED ME FOR A WORDPRESS ADMIN ACCESS: DONE.
THEN YOU GUYS ASKED ME FOR A FTP ACCESS: DONE.
WHAT THE HELL DO YOU NEED NOW?
I’m sorry, but after that last message my mind was completely blown!
I am asking for help. Please there is any developer that can really give me proper support?
Hello, Marco,
I hope this message finds you well.
We kindly request that you review the current operation of the categories to ensure they meet your expectations.
Additionally, we would like to inform you that we are updating our FTP access protocol. Moving forward, we will no longer support various systems for FTP access. Instead, FTP credentials should be provided in the following format:
– Protocol:
– Hostname:
– Directory:
– User:
– Password:
Alternatively, access can be granted via a PEM key, but without the use of third-party systems.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your feedback and continued cooperation.
Best Regards,
8Theme’s Team
