Hello, some code changes (function.php) I made on the site after the update, my settings are back to factory settings! So my settings are messed up!

Now I’ll have to redo it.

How can I keep my own settings when I want to update the theme again in the future?

    Urgent support, thanks.

    Hello, @Dilges Yildiz,

We are sorry to hear that you lost your settings after updating the theme. To avoid this issue in the future and preserve your settings during theme updates, here are a few recommended approaches:

Child Theme: Create a child theme for your WordPress site. A child theme inherits the functionality and styling of its parent theme but allows you to make modifications without affecting the parent theme’s files. This way, when you update the parent theme, your customizations will remain intact.

Please read our theme documentation here: https://www.8theme.com/documentation/docs/child-theme/

Remember to back up your site before making any changes or updates, and test them on a staging or development environment to ensure everything works as expected.

    Best Regards,
    8Theme Team.
