Hi,
I want to setup Multilanguage on a Child Theme, but the main language should be Portuguese and not English.
I completed the Loco tutorial on the main theme and it had no effect on the child theme.
After that, how can I setup multilanguage? Just English and Portuguese.
Thanks you,
Jaime
Hello, Jaime,
Thank you for contacting us and for using XStore.
The translation should be done for the parent theme, and it will be automatically inherited by the child theme.
The child theme should be translated only in case you added custom code in child theme that includes localization functions.
Main language you can select in Dashboard > Settings > Site language.
If you want to create a multilanguage site you need a special plugin for these purposes https://colorlib.com/wp/wordpress-multilingual-plugins/ Support of the plugin should guide you. The plugin will give a language switcher widget also.

I installed it and it still didn’t translate the entire theme.
Can you check what might be wrong? I think when I changed the website language it didn’t assume the installed language.
Also, I installed the Gtranslate plugin and I want to insert it in the header, but you guys only allow HTML and no Shortcode. What can I do?
Hello, Jaime,
Thank you for your response.
1/ You selected the site language Português, so the translation of the theme should be xstore-pt_PT.po, but you have only an incorrectly named file – https://prnt.sc/4Hn67ImfBRSa , the same for XStore Core plugin.
Please read and watch videos – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-translation/base-theme-translation/
2/ We would recommend you contact support of the Gtranslate plugin first.
As we can see, GTranslate widget can be added in a widget area via Appearance > Widgets, then you can select that area by adding a Widget element into the Header Builder – https://prnt.sc/f6g3-s4IBvTQ
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our support team is always available to assist you.
