How to delete "Category archive:" from page title?

    Hello,
    I found a guide to delete “Category archive:” from the page title here
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/remove-category-archives-but-retain-title/

    but when I open my xstore-child folder I do not see the category.php to edit. I do see it in the xstore folder, but if I edit that one won’t it be overwritten whne I update the template?

    solved, for some reason 8theme core plugin was missing
