hello , so i have image X , used as subcategory image , later i replaced the image X by image Y through a plugin , image replaced successfully (confirmed by opening the image link in separate browser) , but the subcategory image is still holding the image X , even though X is no longer there.

so I assume it has to do with thumbnail generating thing , so how to delete the associated thumbnail of the image X so that they get updated ? or what to do in this case ?

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your query. We understand that you are experiencing an issue where the subcategory image has not updated on your website even after replacing it with a new image. This can indeed sometimes be related to the thumbnail caching.

1/ Please make sure that the new image was uploaded with a different name.

2/ To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps to ensure that the thumbnails are regenerated and the cache is cleared:

    1. **Clear Cache**: Start by clearing any cache that your website might be using. This includes your browser cache, any WordPress caching plugins (like WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache), and server-side cache if applicable.

    2. **Regenerate Thumbnails**: If clearing the cache does not resolve the issue, you may need to regenerate the thumbnails for your images. You can do this using a plugin like ‘Regenerate Thumbnails’ or ‘Force Regenerate Thumbnails’. These plugins allow you to regenerate all thumbnail sizes for one or more images that have been uploaded to your media library.

    3. **Check Plugin Settings**: Since you mentioned that the image was replaced through a plugin, please check the settings of the plugin to ensure it is configured to regenerate thumbnails upon image replacement. Some plugins might have specific settings for this.

    4. **Manual Replacement**: If the above steps do not work, try manually replacing the image file in your server directory where the original image was stored. Sometimes direct replacement in the file system can force the update.

We hope this helps, and we look forward to assisting you further. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any more questions or require further assistance.
