I could have sworn I already posted this question but the “My recent topics” box says “no topics have been created”, so I don’t know., maybe I didn’t. I would like to install the theme without the demo content, since I would be installing it on a site that already has 25,000 products imported. I would however like to get the theme styles so I can decide which one I would like.
The theme is uploaded but not installed.
Hello, Thehawkman,
Thank you for contacting us and for using XStore.
We can’t check your site because of error from an additional plugin there – https://prnt.sc/raF3YjUsLqlz
To activate the theme, go to Appearance > Themes, then go to XStore > Welcome panel > enter your purchase code to register XStore. Also, you will need to activate the required plugins – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/plugins/included-plugins/
We would recommend disabling all 3rd party plugins before theme installation to prevent conflicts, then you can enable your plugins one by one and check if all works fine.
Demo content will not be automatically installed, in case you do not go to the Import demos section and click on Import.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our support team is always available to assist you.
Create a full backup of the site in case you are worried, then you will be able to revert back in case something goes wrong, or create a staging site (full copy of the live site) and do tests there first.
Kind Regards,

create a staging site (full copy of the live site) and do tests there first.
I could do a second wordpress install on the same domain, just need to be sure it won’t lead to some license violation like my purchase code being disabled. I would rather not go through the hassle of backing up and restoring the main site (not to mention even the DB backup could break something, (I have a complicated CSV import plugin which is rather difficult to work with) and just install the theme on the main site once I figure out how it works and how I want it to look by playing with it on a test install.
2) On the matter of looks, the theme has many demos. Is it possible to switch between them, like via the WP customizer or in some other way? For one reason, I would like to have a way of seeing them live with content and also, some of them display a search box on mobile but some don’t. Can a layout which doesn’t have that feature om mobile be easily or less easily 🙂 customized to include it?
Forgot to ask, do you provide some basic assistance with the included plugins? Like how to customize a form made in Quform? Or do I have to ask their respective developers?
Hello, Thehawkman,
Thank you for your response.
Please read this article – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/theme-installation/how-to-registerderegister-xstore-theme-livestaging-websites/ – you can create a test site with one of the mentioned domain patterns.
You can just install the theme on the main site, it should not cause lost content. Only in case you run a full import of the demo, new content will be added, so you will get a mix of your and new content.
There is no option to quickly switch between demos, unfortunately.
If you import one demo, then want to change to another one, you will get a mess. We recommend running an import on a fresh WordPress installation. To do this, you can use the WordPress Database Reset plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-database-reset/). This plugin can be used to remove all existing content and install a new version from scratch. But it may not be suitable for you, in case you do not want to lose your current content.
We have XStore Studio that allows safe import sections from different demos (Elementor) – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/xstore-features/xstudio-feature-of-xstore-wordpress-theme/
Do you mean to search in the header? The header can be easily customized via our Theme options > Header builder > Mobile content.
We would recommend reading the documentation of the plugins first, then you can post a new topic on our support forum (one topic=1 question), and we will do our best to assist you.
We hope this information is helpful.

Well since you say I can test it on a subdomain, I will add a dev subdomain for my site and install it there first. Is it possible to export/import the settings for the theme, kind of like WP Customizer does?

Yes, that is what I meant. The Niche Market 02 is one example. Not all layouts have it but it seems like a useful feature to have considering how many people use phones to browse.
Hello, Thehawkman,
Thank you for your response.
1/ Theme Options > Export/Import.
2/ Here is a screenshot of the settings from Theme options > Header builder > Mobile content – https://prnt.sc/rx32mgvj9y34
The search element is simply added to the content area.

Can I just use the WordPress editors (menu editor, Gutenberg, classic widget editor for creating menus or adding widgets to footer or sidebar)?
I see widgets created by 8theme when going to the WP widgets editor but I’ve only managed to add the brands widget (as a test) to the sidebar, but can’t do the same for the footer.
Hello, Thehawkman,
Yes, you can.
Please provide us with temporary wp-admin access, we need to check your setting to give further advice.
To provide wp-admin access, you can create a new user account with administrator role via the Dashboard, and provide us with the username and password via the Private Content area.
Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
Added access data.
Hello, Thehawkman,
Thank you for your response.
Please go to Appearance > Widgets > edit Footer content https://prnt.sc/yYFu6wKuymSk You can change the number of Footer columns via Theme Options > Footer > Footer layout > Columns.
WooCommerce widgets (for example Product Categories or Brands) can work only on WC pages (Shop, Categories), so you may add them into these 4 areas only – https://prnt.sc/05KbUYQVM94Y
Classic Widgets Panel can be enabled via Theme Options > General.
You can enable Gutenberg Styles via Theme Options > Speed Optimization.
We trust that the information provided will be of significant assistance to you.

Just as I was congratulating myself for getting it to work, I ran into a problem.
I managed to add a search box to the jewelry demo on mobile (which is dark blue and doesn’t have a search box) using the “prebuilt header option”.
https://ibb.co/x8gJ1gJ
When trying to add a search box to the desktop version via the same method, the theme got “reset”.
https://ibb.co/T08ZW7d
Attempting to revert it via using the Jewelry demo header also failed.

Also I have been working on a translation for the theme, since the one available for my language is incomplete. How do I configure the theme to use my translation? Same question for the core plugin.
Hello, Thehawkman,
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
1/ Please clear the cache and check the header now. Describe in more detail what exactly further assistance you need from our side or what desired result you can’t achieve.
2/ We would recommend opening up new topics for new questions – https://www.8theme.com/forums/xstore-wordpress-support-forum/
