    Hello, @mch,

    1. The error message you encountered suggests that there is a configuration issue with your WordPress installation. Specifically, it indicates that your wp-config.php file is not writable, which is preventing changes from being made to it.

To resolve this issue, you need to make your wp-config.php file writable. Here’s how you can do it:

    a. Access your website’s files: This can be done either through an FTP client or a file manager provided by your hosting provider.

    b. Locate the wp-config.php file: It is typically located in the root directory of your WordPress installation.

    c. Change the file permissions: Right-click on the wp-config.php file and select the “Permissions” or “File Permissions” option. Alternatively, you can use an FTP client to modify the file permissions.

    d. Set the file permissions: Change the file permissions to allow write access. The recommended value is 644 or 664. If those values don’t work, you can try setting the permissions to 666.

    e. Save the changes: Once you’ve set the file permissions, save the changes and close the file.

    f. Reload the page: After making the wp-config.php file writable, reload the page that was displaying the error message.

By making the wp-config.php file writable, you should be able to resolve the issue and continue using your WordPress site without encountering the error message.

    2. We kindly ask that you please read and follow the instructions written in our theme documentation to update plugins – https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/plugins/plugins-update/. For more information, please refer to https://www.8theme.com/documentation/xstore/plugins/activation-and-purchase-codes/.

    3. Regarding your question about the Xstore Child theme, we can provide some guidance to help you make a decision.

The Xstore Child theme is typically used when making customizations or modifications to a parent theme called Xstore. It allows you to preserve any changes you make to the theme while still being able to update the parent theme without losing those modifications.

To determine whether you need to keep the Xstore Child theme or delete it, you should consider the following:

    a. Customizations: If you have made any specific modifications or customizations to your website’s design or functionality using the Xstore Child theme, deleting it would result in the loss of those changes. If you’re unsure whether you made any modifications, we recommend reviewing your website’s design and functionality to identify any changes that might have been made.

    b. Parent Theme Updates: If you plan to keep using the Xstore theme and want to receive updates and improvements from the theme developers, it’s generally recommended to keep the Xstore Child theme intact. This way, you can update the parent theme while preserving any customizations made in the child theme.

    c. Unused Theme: If you’re certain that you haven’t made any customizations using the Xstore Child theme, you can go ahead and delete the child theme. However, it’s essential to ensure you have a backup of your website before making any changes.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or if there’s anything else we can assist you with.

    Best regards,

    Hello, @mch,

If you’re having trouble logging in to your FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server, there could be several reasons for this issue. Let’s go through some common troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the problem:

    1. Double-check your login credentials: Make sure you’re using the correct username and password for your FTP server. Ensure that there are no typos or spelling errors.

    2. Verify the FTP server address: Confirm that you’re connecting to the correct FTP server address. It should be provided by your hosting provider or system administrator. Ensure you’re using the correct hostname or IP address.

    3. Check the FTP port: FTP typically uses port 21, but some servers may use different ports. Ensure that you’re using the correct port number for your FTP server. If you’re unsure, consult your hosting provider or system administrator.

    4. Review firewall and network settings: Verify that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the FTP connection. Check if any network settings, such as proxy configurations, are interfering with the FTP access.

    5. Test the connection using an FTP client: Instead of relying on a web browser, try using a dedicated FTP client like FileZilla or Cyberduck. These clients offer more detailed error messages, which can help pinpoint the problem.

    6. Contact your hosting provider or system administrator: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it’s possible that there might be a server-side problem. Reach out to your hosting provider or system administrator for assistance. They can check the server logs and help troubleshoot the problem further.

    OR

You can try with WP File Manager plugin as well, it also provides the backend files access to the user: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-file-manager/
