I do not think I had this problem before, but a few days ago I noticed the product quantities in the checkout couldn’t be updated.

The functions.php code works for me in the staging. So is this a bug? And can I safely put the code into my functions.php without a chance of my site breaking with an xstore update? I have already checked clashes with plugins and functions.php on my staging, and for me it looks like a problem with the theme.
