    Hi

Since the last update to X-Store the server CPU & RAM is going through the roof – as in before we updated the theme it was fine and had been for years now all of a sudden it is crashing multiple times a day and this is caused by the theme – when deactivated cpu goes from 100% down to 0% so it is 100% related to X-Store theme.

Please keep anything about my site private – do not post anything publicly.

    Thanks

    Dear @Niddy,

I hope this message finds you well. We have noticed a number of discussions regarding elevated CPU usage on the WordPress support forums recently. This trend suggests that a recent update to WordPress may be causing increased CPU consumption when used in conjunction with our theme and certain plugins.

Could you kindly review the following topic: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/high-cpu-usage-58/? Additionally, we would appreciate it if you could contact your hosting provider and request that they gather the query requests contributing to the high CPU usage. This information will be invaluable in helping us identify potential areas of our code that could be optimized.

Also, could you please, provide us an answer of what previous theme version was installed on your web-site. In such case we could identify the possible start of issues.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in this matter. We look forward to your prompt response.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson

    Hi Jack

Thanks for your reply – please see images in private that shows usage since I updated at the end of June (29th)…

    I’ll send logs separately shortly.

You asked what version of theme – I always keep it updated within a few days so the previous version is your previous version, before the update end of June – so the most two recent updates are my old / new theme versions – whatever they are. Essentially it is always bang-up-to-date.

    Cheers

    Dear @Niddy,

I hope this message finds you well.

We have reviewed the changes made between June 29 and July 3 and can confirm that the only updates during this period were to XStore version 9.3.14 and the Core plugin version 5.3.14, which are the latest releases. It is important to note that these updates were officially released on June 27. Based on the screenshots you provided, even if the updates were applied on your end between June 28 and June 29, the graphs indicate that everything was functioning correctly. This observation leads us to consider the possibility of updates to other plugins as well. Could you please verify if there were any additional plugin updates around that time?

Regarding your inquiry about third-party URLs, we have thoroughly inspected the archives of both the XStore theme and XStore Core plugin and found no references to such URLs. To ensure the security of your website, we recommend double-checking any third-party plugins that may have been installed.

Furthermore, we have submitted a request for you to consult with your hosting provider to identify the most resource-intensive requests on your website. This information will help us determine if they are associated with our XStore theme, or possibly with other plugins like Elementor or WooCommerce, all of which received updates between June 24 and June 27.

Thank you for your attention to these matters. We look forward to your response.

    Best regards,

    Hi

I reverted to pre-update and now the CPU is perfect again so it was 100% linked to the most recent update.

    Dear @Niddy,

Thank you for providing the essential details through your recent tests. We have forwarded your analysis to our development team for further review.

Could you also confirm whether you encountered any issues after maintaining the older version (9.3.13) on your website for an extended period? Specifically, we are interested in knowing if there was any increase in CPU usage after a few hours with this version installed. This information is crucial for our ongoing assessment. We would ask you to keep the older version on your web-site to prevent CPU overusage and for testing needs also.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to your response.

    Best Regards,

    Hi

Just to update you, since reverting back to the old version of the theme the CPU has been perfectly fine (all weekend) with no downtime.

So it 100% links to the theme and the latest woocommerce update as I did update both but then reverted both; so something between both these is causing high CPU usage.

As I am on a live site I could not test one or the other so decided to revert both, however when I did disable the theme the CPU improved immediately so hopefully this helps.

    Thanks again 🙂

    Dear @Niddy,

I hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to inform you that we have recently incorporated compatibility with the latest PHP 8.3 in our recent updates. To assist us in ensuring seamless functionality, we kindly request that you consider downgrading the PHP version on your website to 7.4.x.

Please test this configuration with the latest archives. If everything operates correctly, we would appreciate it if you could then test the latest theme archives with PHP version 8.0.

We have implemented numerous modifications to enhance compatibility, and your assistance in verifying these changes would be invaluable, particularly in addressing the CPU usage issue you encountered.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. We look forward to your feedback.

    Best Regards,

    Hi

PHP 7.4 end of life was Nov 2022. I’m not reverting my site back to an unsupported and thus insecure php version; sorry.

    Dear @Niddy,

We are also referring to version 8.0, which is supported and working well. There could be some issues related to the latest PHP 8.3. On our server, we do not encounter these issues. In your specific case, it is necessary to check if the problem is related to the PHP version.

    Warm Regards,
    The 8Theme Team
