    Hi guys,

    I just purchased the theme to replace the old one which I had on my store (www.1950sglam.com)

    I’ve downloaded the theme without the demo pages (but I did manually create the typography page) as I didn’t want it to mess with the pages and menu which I had set up already. I’ve gone through the documentation to try to customise it now but some of the features seem to be missing or not working.

    -I’ve unclicked option to use prefooter but all of the preloaded footers are still there and I can’t seem to be able to get rid of them so I can load my own.
    -I have ‘boxed’ layout selected but none of the background pattern options are appearing
    -I don’t see the option to select or set up fonts anywhere
    -Can’t see where to modify some of the preloaded content – eg the payment logos or the content, images & colours of the two boxes below the slider
    -I had a ‘contact us’ page with link set up on the old theme. I’ve tried to link here to the ‘contact us’ on the footer – can’t see where/how I get this to direct to anywhere.
    -pictures on main page and under ‘Dresses’ are displaying correctly but pictures under ‘On Sale’ and ‘What’s Hot’ are all kinds of strange sizes. How can I fix this?
    -All of the footer content I had on the old theme has copied over into strange places (like ‘Customer Service’ column below the main menu, payment logos under ‘dresses’ and I can’t work out how to get rid of this content or to move it.

    I apologise for all the items. It just seems like there are an unusual amount for a just installed theme so am wondering whether I am maybe missing some key components from the installation package?

    If not, could you please advise how I fix the above items?

    Many thanks in advance for your reply

    Hello,

    1. If you want to replace demo footer you need to add widgets as described in the documentation:
    https://www.8theme.com/demo/docs/blanco/#!/widgets

    2. I’ve uploaded background pattern example in Blanco – Theme Settings > Color Scheme.

    3. Unfortunately there is no feature to set up fonts in theme options but you can do it as described here https://www.8theme.com/blog/how-to-add-custom-fonts-in-wordpress-themes/

    4. You need to create your own banners, upload them to images directory on your server and change “img src” path in home page editor (see the screenshot http://prntscr.com/8nxbe2 ).

    5. Add text widget in Appearance > Widgets > Footer Copyrights area as described in the documentation https://www.8theme.com/demo/docs/blanco/#!/widgets and change links to your needs.

    6. If you use WooCommerce plugin you may also use WooCommerce shortcodes. To make them work in our theme, you need to insert prefix “etheme_” before shortcode words. For example: [etheme_best_selling_products per_page=”12″] will display best selling products and [etheme_product_category category=” “] – multiple products in a category by slug etc. (https://www.8theme.com/demo/docs/blanco/#!/blanco_shortcodes)

    7. As I see you have added text widgets in Appearance > Widgets > Home Page Sidebar and Product Page Sidebar. Remove them or move to appropriate widget area.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson.

    Hi Jack,

    Many thanks for getting back to me and for taking a look, I appreciate it.

    One of the reasons I bought the theme was because it had a tick next to Google fonts and that the download package also came with 24 patterns.

    I am a wordpress newbie so the claim of ‘easy and fun to customise’ was also important. I know some basics but certainly not enough to be messing around with code in the theme files.

    So in that regard, for google fonts, is the theme compatible with the WP Easy Google Fonts plugin? This might be the easiest for me to get the fonts on the site without having to alter css files etc…

    Thank you for uploading the demo pattern. I am really interested in the full package of 24 which come with the theme though (there are a few that are in the demo which suit a ladies’ fashion store really well) so how can I get this full file? Actually, I’m interested in the full sample images & files which apparently come with the theme:

    4 images for SlideShow
    3 images for Background
    12 layered PSD Files
    24 patterns

    I will give it a shot with the other items relating to the footer & banner customisation.

    What about the standard ‘contact us’ form? I know that this sometimes comes as a page template which can then be linked in the footer via short code in a widget but I don’t see any such template here.

    Hello,

    We can’t guarantee full compatibility of 3rd-party plugins. You need check this plugin yourself. Please take our apologies for inconveniences.

    I’ve sent the archives with pattern files, slider images, psd files to your email address. Please check it.

    Use this shortcode [etheme_contacts] in Contact page to show contact form.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson.

    Thank you for sending the patterns & shortcode for contact us.

    I’ve now fixed the majority of the issues. I still have some that I’m trying to work through.

    Could you please send me the theme’s default dimensions for the two banners which sit below the slider? I want to make sure that what I create will fit as it should in the space/page.

    Also I tried to change the code to direct the buttons on both banners to specific pages but without any luck-kept directing to a 404. Would you know what correct code is? I am looking to direct one to the ‘on sale page’ and the other possibly to a customer sign up page (My Account page).

    Regarding the google fonts, I read the link you sent & downloaded Supreme Google Webfonts as suggested. I selected the two fonts to use but I don’t see the visual editor anywhere in the menus or the individual pages so that I can apply either of the fonts.

    Thanks again, I do appreciate your support!

    Hello,

    The banners dimensions are 471px × 174px.

    I’ve set links for 2 buttons on banners in your home page editor.
    Please check them now.

    Please look at the screenshot where you can find fonts option in the editor:

    Hi Jack,

    Thank you for the code on the banner buttons – they work now!

    Thanks too for the screenshot on the plugin. I am aware that I can change the font of the actual posts but the problem is that I am seemingly not able to change the font of the headings, links and other titles on the site.

    I’ve tried around six different plugins now (Google Easy Fonts, WP Font Manager etc etc…) and none work. Even where they have an editor to select the display of headings or paragraphs, usually only the paragraphs work but not the headings.

    Is there some straight forward code that can be inserted to override the theme’s defaults?

    I am only looking at two fonts. Essentially one for the main menu headings on the front page (and possibly one or two other places), the rest of the typography in another font.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Jack,

    Apologies for the delayed reply.

    I’d like the main menu headings (Home, Dresses, What’s Hot etc etc…) to be in Lobster font, but slightly bigger than what the current theme has.

    The remaining typography – general text, links, headings, paragraphs etc… I would like to be in Marcellus font – size can be the same as now.

    Both font are already loaded via the plugin which was suggested on that page.

    I may need to make modifications or another heading in the future be the Lobster font so could you please let me know where & ho you made the changes so I can modify and maintain it myself?

    Thank you once again

    Hello,

    You can use this code in custom.css.

    #main-nav > ul > li > a{
    font-family: Lobster;
    }

    Here is a video tutorial how to create custom.css: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qok2zRedRMY&feature=youtu.be.

    Hi Robert,

    Thank you for the code and the link. I will watch the video to set up the custom css.

    Could you please send me the code to make the remaining writing on the site (links, headings, paras etc…) in Marcellus? I will set this up at the same time.

    The individual product pages have a couple of small banners on the right hand side.

    Could you please tell me where I control these through? How I can either a) get rid of them or b) modify them.

    Could you please also send me the pixel sizes of the banners so whatever I replace them with will fit.

    Much appreciate it

    Hi,

    I’ve created the custom css in my theme and inserted the code you gave above for the main menu but it has not altered the font.

    Could you please let me know what the code should be to change the font for the header to Lobster and the remaining text to Marcellus?

    Thanks again

    Hello,

    Please change previously provided css code to the following:

    #main-nav > ul > li > a{
    font-family: Lobster !important;
    }

    And try this css code to set up Marcellus font for all remaining text:

    body, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6 {
    font-family: Marcellus !important;
    }

    Also don’t forget to clear cache on your server to see the changes immediately.

    Best regards,

    Hi Jack,

    Thank you for the code – that’s fixed the font.

    For some reason now though, the font for the header and some of the other links seems to have become lighter or smaller. I am guessing that this may be a function of the new fonts.

    Could you please let me know the code to override this and set the font sizes & thickness to what they are on the Blanco default?

    I have also tried to set up the widgets for the home page bar which sits below the main menu (in the demo as ‘Have any questions?’ ‘Big sale’ etc etc…)

    For some reason I am not able to get them set up all in a row as they appear on the demo. All seem to be cascading in one column. Also the text size is much smaller as is the darkness than what it is on the demo.

    How do I go about correcting this to set up the widgets all in a row and also to achieve the same font size/thickness as in the demo?

    Lastly, I’ve looked to see where I can remove the default ‘B’ of the site favicon but can’t locate this. Could you please tell me where it is?

    Thank you again, much appreciate it!

    Hello,

    I’ve added this code in custom.css file to fix widgets displaying under the menu:

    #homepage-sidebar {
      display: flex !important;
    }

    .widget.widget-woocommerce-currency-switcher {
       margin-right: 33%;
       padding-top: 10px !important;
       height: 35px !important;
    }

    #homepage-sidebar div#text-18 {
        margin-right: 21% !important;
    }

    #homepage-sidebar .widget-container {
     font-size: 15px !important;
     padding-top: 10px !important;
    }

    Please check it now.

    You can remove default favicon image in wp-content/themes/blanco/images directory. The name is “favicon.ico”.

    Please clarify what links exactly you want to change font size for.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Jack Richardson.

    Hi Jack,

    My sincere apologies for the delayed reply.

    Many thanks for adjusting the widgets under the menu. Is there any way that I can adjust these in the future myself without needing you guys to change the code?

    Regarding the font, at this stage I mainly need to increase the size of the main menu items. ie Home, Dresses, What’s hot etc… I notice that the heading on that menu is also defaulting to capital letters. I need to change this to the standard capital and smalls ie. Home as opposed to HOME

    Can you let me know what the default size on the heading is now and what code to insert to change that as well as to a standard look minus all caps?

    I have changed the layout of the single product page to remove the custom banners which appeared on right hand side but now the layout formatting of the ‘size’ ‘Qty’ and ‘Add to cart’ has become distorted – how can I fix this so it is properly aligned?

    In relation to the currency widget which is below the main menu at the moment, is there any way that I can add it as a widget below the top right area where the Shopping cart icon and ‘Login | Your Account’ appear now?

    Lastly, I seem to be having a couple of issues with the category product page displays. I have the settings to display 12 products per page but currently only 10 are displaying and the bottom row is showing unnecessary empty spaces.

    On the ‘On sale’ page, it is displaying even more strangely as 3, 1, 3, 1 in each row and I can’t seem to work out how to change this.

    Can you tell me how I can fix both of these display issues?

    Thank you in advance – much appreciate your help with all the fixes

    Hello,

    1. If you use the code in custom.css file you won’t need adjust the widgets as the code will be saved even after theme update.

    2. To increase font for menu items use this css code:

    #main-nav > ul > li > a {
        font-size: 18px;
        text-transform: capitalize;
    }

    3. Add this code in custom.css file:

    .variations_form table.variations {
        margin: 0px 0px 0px;
    }
    .single_add_to_cart_button.button.alt {
        margin-right: 30% !important;
    }

    4. You have to edit theme files to place the widget in the header. It’s beyond our basic support scope as it requires additional customization.

    5. Go to Settings -> Reading -> “Blog pages show at most” and then set the number value “12”.

    6. I’ve edited your shortcode on page “On sale” to:
    [etheme_product_category category="sailor" columns="3"]

    Please check the page now.

    Hi Eva,

    Thank you for the reply and the fixes – they worked! 🙂

    It seems though that no sooner do I fix one thing then another one pops up.

    I have inserted the text that I need into the widgets under the main menu however as you can see, the size of the containers on the widgets is too small to accommodate so it splits over two lines and then creates unnecessary white spaces in between (I think on the demo the widget containers are bigger).

    I had a go at playing with the margins in the custom css code that Jack had given me earlier to align the widgets into a row but this didn’t help. I also tried to align the currency widget to the right edge so it displays correctly on that side but also no luck.

    Could you tell me what the correct code should be to increase the size of the widget containers & change the currency switcher alignment?

    Also all of the pages regarding of content were displaying the product categories side bar. I have managed to change it for all except the blog page – even though the default layout for that in Blanco is set to no sidebar. Could you please let me know where/how to change this?

    Regarding placing the currency switcher widget into the header, I understand your position on this.

    The plugin author has provided

    <?php echo do_shortcode(‘[woocs]’); ?>

    as the shortcode to add to the header php file. Are you able to point me in the right place where in the header php file this should be inserted? Would I be ok to add that section along with the widget shortcode to the custom css file to get the change or would it need to be actually inserted into the header php file itself to work?

    Finally, the layer slider plugin apparently has an available upgrade. Am I ok to upgrade it from the panel myself? It is also displaying the following message:

    You need to authorize this site in order to get upgrades or support for this plugin. Purchase a license or enter an existing purchase code.

    Thanks again, much appreciate you help

    Also, forgot to mention – for some reason the blog page seems to show the search box. Haven’t been able to find where to remove this and just to show the standard blog page as per the template that I’ve selected on the Blanco theme page. Could you point me in the right place?

    Hello,

    1. I’ve edited the css code for your widgets to this one:

    .widget.widget-woocommerce-currency-switcher {
        width: 27%;
       padding-top: 10px !important;
       height: 35px !important;
    }

    /* #homepage-sidebar div#text-18 {
        margin-right: 21% !important;
    } */

    #homepage-sidebar .widget-container {
     font-size: 15px !important;
     padding-top: 10px !important;
     width: 100%;
    }

    Clear browser cache and check now.

    2. You need remove widget from Primary Widget Area in Appearance > Widgets to remove sidebar on Blog page.
    Also it shows search form because there are no posts to display. You have only 1 post in wp-admin panel > Posts and it’s a draft, publish it or create new posts.

    3. You should add code into header.php file after the line 104.

    4. You can download plugins new versions here:
    https://www.8theme.com/download-plugins/

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I tried inserting the php shortcode for the currency switcher widget into the header php file as you suggested.

    Got the following error:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘’’ (T_STRING) in /home/findconv/public_html/1950sglam.com/wp-content/themes/blanco/header.php on line 105

    This was with the following shortcode given by the plugin developer

    <?php echo do_shortcode(‘[woocs]’); ?>

    I also tried another shortcode given by the developer –

    <?php do_shortcode(‘[woocs show_flags=1 width=’300px’ flag_position=’right’]’) ?>

    and got the error:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘show_flags’ (T_STRING), expecting ‘]’ in /home/findconv/public_html/1950sglam.com/wp-content/themes/blanco/header.php on line 105

    Do you know what the issue is?

    With the product categories, I moved the widget from the primary widget area to the product page sidebar. That fixed the issue of categories appearing on the blog page. But now they are missing from the ‘On sale’ page. No matter what format I pick, this page now has the blog layout on the side and I cannot seem to add the product categories there. Can you advise of the fix?

    The front page should also be displaying a ‘Latest Products’ slider below the featured products slider. The shortcode is there, but the slider is not appearing. Please let me know how to fix this.

    Much appreciate it.

    Hello,

    1. I’ve inserted the following code in header.php:
    <div class="custom-currency"><?php echo do_shortcode('[woocs]'); ?></div>
    Please check the site.

    2. I’ve reverted back Woocommerce Product Categories widget in Primary Widget Area and added the css code in custom.css:

    .blog aside#sidebar {
        display: none;
    }

    3. You need to tick “Mark this product as a NEW one” in custom settings for each product you want to display as the latest.

    Hi Jack,

    Thanks for the fixes.

    The widget is working fine but the change you made on the categories widget has seemingly caused a conflict somewhere in the display & formatting of the categories box on the ‘Dresses’ page (all the others look fine).

    On the Dresses page, the box has lost the font override (Marcellus), shows as caps&smalls instead of all caps as it should and shows a different title.

    Not sure how code for an override on the blog page would have caused that but could you let me know how to fix?

    Many thanks

    Hi Jack,

    That’s worked – many thanks!

    I’ve just tried to change one of the product display shortcodes on the What’s Hot page.

    Want to show in the first group all products marked ‘new’, then followed by the best sellers.

    Have amended shortcode for ‘new’ to [etheme_new per_page=”12″ columns=”4″] but it is still appearing as a slider rather than just a standard product listing.

    How do I correct this?

    Hello,

    Shortcode for new products displays slider.
    You can display products in grid using this shortcode [etheme_products ids="1, 2, 3, 4, 5" columns="4"], write your products ids instead of 1,2,3,4,5.
