    Hello,

Is there a cost-effective way to move a staging copy of our website from WPBakery to Elementor without having to reinstall the entire server with the website? It’s fine if we need to rebuild all of the pages, delete order history, users, etc., but we would instead retain all the images, products, taxonomies, etc, using an updated version of the Xstore theme. Basically, we want to ‘reset’ the website and update the theme while retaining the database. Is that possible?

    Hello, Bas Kling,

We would like to confirm that it is indeed possible to switch from WPBakery to Elementor without affecting your existing database of products, categories, orders, brands, images, etc.

However, you will need to recreate the main pages using Elementor. Additionally, it will be necessary to redesign the header, footer, product archives, and single product pages using the XStore builders based on Elementor.

We strongly recommend creating a backup and setting up a staging environment to transition to Elementor before making any changes to the live site.

Thank you for your attention. Should you have any further questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Hello Andrew,

    Thank you for the confirmation.
How do I get Elementor within the existing (child-)template setup then? Or do I best pick a new theme that resembles the look & feel of our current built, but based on Elementor? (in that case, can you recommend a theme that closely resembles the applied functionality and layout from our live site? – in Private)

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for providing the tailored examples. However, I still have a question about Elementor. How can I add the new customizer to my existing website?

    Hello, Bas Kling,

We would like to inform you that upon activation, the Elementor will appear automatically. However, we strongly recommend against using two builders simultaneously as this can significantly impact performance.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

    Herein lies the problem.
I can install a new theme, but with the existing theme present, I can only update the current install. Uninstalling the old theme, I’m unsure if I can activate the Elementor builder. Please advise

    Hello, Bas Kling,

Thank you for reaching out with your concerns.

In this case, we recommend creating a copy of your site on a staging environment and trying the updates there first. Additionally, you can rename the folder containing the current theme via FTP and upload the new theme. If any issues arise, you can simply delete the new theme folder. You also have the option to activate Elementor on the old version of the theme before making any changes.

Regardless of the approach you choose, we strongly advise making a full backup of your site before proceeding with any modifications.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Andrew,

thank you for those instructions. I decided to delete the xcore, the wpbakery plugin, all themes and child themes, and do a theme clean install, activate it, and activate the elementor plugin.

Then, trying to access the builder, I get the following message: https://imgur.com/kqQNR9x
I was under the impression that a full licensed (pro) version was included in the theme? Am I doing something wrong here?

    Hello, Bas Kling,

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information about the steps you’ve taken.

Regarding the Elementor plugin, I apologize for any confusion. Unfortunately, the theme package does not include the full licensed (Pro) version of Elementor. As an alternative, we recommend using the Pro Elements, which you can install via the plugin installation panel on your dashboard.

We understand this might not have been what you expected, and we appreciate your understanding. If you need further assistance or have any more questions, please feel free to contact us.

    Thank you for your reply.
We’ve since purchased the pro version, and are currently working on a staging site for b2b, removing all WPBakery elements and rebuilding pages with Elementor.

We’re running into a few problems. For instance, we use static blocks in the description field of the category, to display (responsively) a header image. When previewing the static block, the image shows fine (both desktop and mobile). When loading the category page though the banner is invisible. Can you please assist and see what’s going on?

(NOTE: The xcore plugin is outdated, because this is a development site. Basic functionality should be fine).

It seems that updating all elements (xstore, woocommerce AND wordpress all to latest versions solved the issue.
    Thank you.
