I would also like to move my site to a new url but when I do I lose all theme settings (and only the actual settings), is there a way to export theme settings to stop this?
Hello,
Don’t worry, when you transfer website to another hosting or changes domain, your settings will not be lost. But we recommend you to do the backup before that.

Hi Robert
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I have tried moving it once and althought it kept main structure and files etc the majority of the theme settings were lost, such as colours, logo and footer widgets, shop settings etc.

Hello,
Have you created back up as was advised in the previous post?
Try to restore the files on a new server from your back up.
Thank you.

Eva Kemp.
Good morning,
Yes I back everything up, I then create a new database on new server, I rename the url throughout the old database and import it, I then upload root files via ftp changing the wp-config to the new database.
All pages, images and links seem to be there but it is the actual theme settings that seem to reset themselves, for example I lose the logo from the header, all colour schemes set in the xmarket theme settings are lost also amongst other things. It is as if the theme resets itself (thus not retaining any of my settings)

Please note I have now moved this site, I have attached url and wp login is the same as before
Hello,
If you changed url to a new one you need edit database backup file and find old url and replace it with a new one. Then import that file into a new database.
Thank you.

Thanks Eva but I did do that (see above #19805) But all theme settings were still lost.

Hello,
Do you still have access to your old host to be able to open site from there?
Thank you.

Eva Kemp.
In the end I just went through all of the theme settings and rest them to what I wanted, not ideal but it was pretty urgent.
Thanks
Les
