My site is slow and being impacted heavily by WPBakery Visual Composer

I’m having a lot of issues with speed on my site, and when looking into it I saw that the visual composer is heavily impacting speed of site. I updated to version 2.3 of the theme and noticed it was a bit better, but still a problem. what can I do to improve it?
