Product category not showing up on Snowboard template

I loaded the snowboard template and for some reason I cannot get the categories menu to show up on the top left hand side of the page like in the demo. The product categories is installed on the homepage, but nothing is showing up. Please help. THanks

Never mind, I figured out that you have to first add a product to a category in order for it to show up. Thanks.
