I have an issue with filters. I have a widget sidebar set – this has several 8theme Swatch Filters in there – but when I am on the main SHOP Page – all of them show despite me having the shop page set to only show Category and NOT PRODUCTS. Sure at this first level it should not show attribute swatches until I am phsically on that archive page?
If I click a filter at this point it pulls in products – which I guess is okay – however it still shows all the other possible filter options which when clicked – clash with the first selection showing that there are no relevant products.
I understand the Clear All Filters widget can be used – but customers do just click further filters anyway and so will always get clashing data/no results.
What would be good is if the results presented – then dictated which filters would show based on the results that were shown only and not the original set of filter options that were available at the start before for the first filter.
I dont want to use a 3rd party complex filer and add load onto site – so hoping that you guys will look at making this better as it really does limit what we can achieve with a site as it is .
I’d really appreciate a better understanding of how to get this to work better as the guide on your docs doesn’t help me.
Thanks
Hello,
Thanks for using our theme and for the detailed video.
Please provide temporary wp-admin and FTP access.
Also, you can disable the filters (sidebar) from the Shop page via the Shop page Layout in Theme Settings https://gyazo.com/4f75aced975a635c918b8894734c912d

How was the issue above solved? I also would like the logic changed of the product filter (not sidebar). If the first filter is selected (category) then the second filter needs to dynamically change (author) based on the first selection. This way the user never lands on a no-result page and can’t choose impossible combinations. How can I achieve this logic?

Hello, SergioW,
We added “8theme – Filter Products by Categories widget” in 9.1.7 version of the theme. If you are using the latest theme version, you can find the widget via Appearance > Widgets – https://prnt.sc/8oR-70AlZOGc
Please check if this is what you are looking for.
Kind Regards,
8theme team
Would be good if you could exclude categories from this widget?
Hello, WebsiteDude,
Thank you for your response.
Please post your request (and describe it in more detail) on our Taskboard at https://www.8theme.com/taskboard/. If it receives enough votes from other customers, our development team will consider adding it in one of the upcoming updates.
Best Regards,

Hi Rose,
I want to use the widget on the homepage of bookstore.
The logic of this widget results in search queries with no results if you filter with wrong combinations. Is it possible to remove values from the filter list based on the previous selected filter? Like a stepped filter.
Hello, SergioW,
Thank you for your response.
There is no such feature or quick solution right now, unfortunately, please post your request to our developer’s team on the next page – https://www.8theme.com/taskboard/
Kind Regards,
8theme team
