Product photos size and zoom - by sophie

Hello,

I tried to upload some pictures on my website and they looked okay, but I had to change the size of my photos many times before they came out looking alright. I was just wondering with the theme Legenda, what size photos I should upload for catalog images, product thumbnails and single product images, and also the aspect ratio of the photos needed.

I changed the product image sizes in Woocommerce setting yesterday and regenerated the pictures then decided to go back to the default setting and regenerated the pictures again, somehow the product images in the catalog page and the front page are all a bit messed up, some small, some big… What can I do to fix this?

My second question is, on the main product page, is there anyway I can limit the customers how much they can zoom in to the pictures? Because all photos are compressed before being uploaded to our website, zooming in too much makes the photos look blurry and unprofessional.

Concerning your second question, unfortunately we don’t have such feature. You may try to upload bigger images to achieve this.

Hello Eva,

I think our host server was down last night. So I have three questions below.

1. Photo dimension – Our product photos are being edited at the moment and the photographer would like to know what size and ratio he needs to cropped the pictures into for them to show up uniformly across the website.

2. Size of thumbnail on catalog page – Please have a look at my site, in the product catalog page, the size of the catalog thumbnails are not the same… I chose hard crop already in my settings so I don’t know why some products photos are still bigger than others.

3. Product image size setting – What’s the default setting for Legenda theme? I changed it yesterday (but have since changed it back but not sure if I remembered the default value correctly). Is the default setting the most compatible with Legenda theme? Following is my current setting

Catalog Images 150×150 px Hard Crop?
Single Product Image 300×300 px Hard Crop?
Product Thumbnails 90×90 px Hard Crop? (I checked hard crop for all three)

Hello,

To make your images show up uniformly across the site catalog you should set up height of image in Theme Options as height of smallest image on the site.

On single product page image is limited by container block width. If you want to make your image shorter you have to upload wider image.

In the Legenda theme WooCommerce image settings is used only for post thumbnails. To set up your images you should go to Theme Options > Product Page Layout and put desired dimension values for images.

The default values are:
Theme Options > Product Page Layout:
Product Images Width: 500px
Product Images Height: 700px

Theme Options > Single product page
Product Thumbnails Width: 120px
Product Thumbnails Height: 130px

Hi Jack,

I’ve set everything as you said above but some images are still longer than others on the product catalog page… When I first downloaded the template, before changing the woocommerce product image size setting and regenerating all the photos, it didn’t happen. I am using the same photos as before (didn’t touch the demo product photos except regenerating them twice).

Also all my product image size settings are as above (and below)

Theme Options > Product Page Layout:
Product Images Width: 500px
Product Images Height: 700px

Theme Options > Single product page
Product Thumbnails Width: 120px
Product Thumbnails Height: 130px

Catalog Images 150×150 px
Single Product Image 300×300 px
Product Thumbnails 90×90 px

What size/ dimension should I tell the photographer to prepare the photos for so they will be completely ready to be uploaded to the website and showing up uniformly?

I’ve changed the height for product images in custom.css file. Please check the Shop page now and clear browser cache before.

Hello @chirag,

Your images should have original dimensions 1425px × 1900px. Try to reupload them in higher resolution and check zoom effect after that.
