Hi
I’m having a nightmare trying to work out what is going on on our store!
We have 65 products and were about to launch, when we realised that a lot of the descriptions of the products are wrong / belong to those of other products.
E.g this one: http://captainoi.com./product/punks-go-marching/
The ‘short’ description is fine, but if you look underneath at ‘full description’, the wording is wrong and the tracklist is wrong. However when you edit the product, everything there is correct! It is literally correct in the backend, and showing something completely different on the front end!
I have tried deleting the products and creating them again, it still shows the wrong info. Also updated the theme, cleared cache, updated permalinks, and nothing works. I’ve no idea where they are pulling in this phantom / wrong info.
I have enclosed logins so you can take a look yourselves.
Any help would be appreciated as we are so overdue the launch date of the site!
Many thanks
Lauren
Hi,
I update the theme and the xstore core plugin, and still it shows wrong text.. Did you have any customization in the child theme? Try to activate the parent theme and see that fixes anything, OR I doubt it’s something with some plugin, can you try disable all the plugins including cache plugin ( clear cache before disable ) and see that fixes anything?
Let us know,
Thanks,
laranz.,
Hi Laranz
I’ve tried switching to parent theme and problem persists, also tried disabling every plugin except core XStore plugin and woocommerce and it still persists.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have tried recreating the product and it still happens!
Could it be something with database / hardcoding the product? It’s a total mystery to me.
Hi again Laranz, an update – if I activate default 2017 theme and check the product pages the problem is gone. When I reactivate 8theme Xstore, the problem is back. There must be something to do with the theme that’s causing this?
Many thanks
Lauren

Hello,
Check now, please.

Hi Olga, I think it seems to be ok now, just checking through the products.
Was it something to do with the child theme?
Theo only thing I can see now is a problem with the SEO info for sharing meta on social media. We are using Yoast plugin and you can see the source code is showing og:image, og:title etc here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/f2f7cqhyksyiht6/sourcecode.tiff?dl=0
However, When I try and scrape this into facebook debugger, it doesn’t pull in the info. In fact it has a completely different og:image:

Any idea, is this a conflict with Yoast?
Many thanks for your help!
Hi,
Go through the Yoast plugin kb articles about this issue, For instance try this: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/why-doesnt-facebook-display-an-image/ if nothing helps I suggest you to contact them, they can help you with the issue.

Thanks Laranz – back to the original problem, for some reason suddenly, we are getting a weird box pop up that wants me to enter a password etc when we try and visit the website.
“To view this page, you must log in to captainoi.devserver4.co.uk:80.”
Did your tech team add any password protection to FTP / files etc?
Hi,
No, we don’t add anything. Please check back with your hosting team.
Let us know,
Thanks,
laranz.
