Related products within a single product

I would like to know if it is possible and how is possible on the related products tab to appear the subcategory products and not the main category. Because at the moment the related products are somehow irrelevant. And also I would to appear random products and not the most recent added.

Related Products is a section that pulls products from your store that share the same tags or categories as the current product.
These products cannot be specified in the admin, but can be influenced by grouping similar products in the same category or by using the same tags.

Our theme simply facilitates the display of these products as determined by the WooCommerce plugin.
