Hi Guys – okay so it is bad to have the fonts downloaded from Google – so I wondered what is the best way to have the fonts loaded locally instead?

I see options in the theme – but also options in Elementor to upload the fonts. What I wanted to check was which method is best for performance? Can you advise the best steps please as this is a massive impact on the sites speed.

I have seen how to do this in Elementor but as I use the theme options there are several areas in the theme that have font options and I am not sure if they are still downloading Google Fonts when used????

It is just not clear which is the best way.

If the Elementor road is best, then how do I make sure I am selecting the fonts I have loaded in the site locally?

    Hello, @websitedude1985,

To use the font locally, The best option is to try to use the theme option. First, you need the file of the font you want, You can upload a custom font in Theme Options > Custom Font https://postimg.cc/DmBndzYF –then you’ll be able to choose it from the drop-down for the elements in Typography.

    Hi Tony

thanks for the reply. So you have introduced this as part of the theme – is there a reason for that as of course you can do this in elementor anyway – so you’ve added code/feature for something that essentially if my understanding is correct that you didn’t need to.

The more the theme does, the more code and overhead it has – should you not just steer people down the elementor route for that?

So the in-built feature you have created, is this going to result in the fonts loading locally and therefore then updating the font options shown in elementor widgets automatically?

I guess what I am wondering is how much of the site is using the theme and its settings for fonts, over and above the options set in elementor? Does uploading the fonts to theme change the options set across elementor? the last thing I want is for fonts to be called both locally and also direct from Google if somewhere things are not setup properly

    Hello,

Not all our customers use Elementor, and not all content can be created using Elementor, if you did not purchase Elementor Pro, you will use our headers builder, shop layout, etc, so font settings are taken from theme settings.
https://www.8theme.com/taskboard/ – if you want to talk with our dev team, please submit a request here. They read the taskboard, not forum, because on the forum we can just guide you about available settings. Requests about improvements should be set via the taskboard.

    Hi Rose

thanks for the reply and I understand the point made. So yes I will message on the Taskboard any suggestions.

That said, can you explain still if I should use the theme for uploading fonts to instead of using elementor/pro? In my case I have options I guess of 2 ways to do this – but which is best?

    Hello,

We would recommend you use our theme functionality. XStore is fully compatible with Elementor, but in case something goes wrong with their settings, you will need to contact the support of plugins to get assistance.
You can contact Elementor right now, maybe they will say that it is better to use their options, but it is your decision, and we are responsible for our theme settings only.

    Regards
