Simply put, the search form in the header returns hidden products. The full search page does not return hidden products. The issue is specific to the “Search form in header” option.
Is there a function or filter I can add or amend to restrict these results to publicly available products?
Hello,
Try to change Visibility for the hidden products to Private as shown on the screenshot http://prntscr.com/ab66qz and then check ajax search results.

Thank you. Setting a product’s post visibility to Hidden does indeed omit the product from the Quick Search. This is a fair work around for this bug. Long term, I would like to see this bug fixed so that the search form in header operates in the same fashion as the full search (ie if a product catalog visibility is hidden, don’t include it in the search form in header results).
Hello,
We’ve passed this query to our developers and they will fix this bug in the next theme update. Please take our apologies for inconveniences.
Best regards,
Jack Richardson.
