It seems that the search function (search box in Header) is not using any assigned Brand name data?
I’ve set out to search for Products only, and it finds data back in both Product names as well as in their (short) descriptions, but not in their assigned Brand name.
It would be a lot of work to manually put Brand names in all Product descriptions for the search to work as expected, while each Product would already have a Brand name assigned to it.
Can you add support for Brand names to be included in the search data used for Products? Thanks!
Hello, @Mathew,
Thank you for contacting us and for using XStore.
Our theme searches by title, description, SKU, posts, and pages, but does not search by tags, brands, or categories. For more information, please refer to the following link: https://www.8theme.com/topic/include-brands-in-search-results/.
If you would like to request that this feature be added, you can post your request on our Taskboard at https://www.8theme.com/taskboard/. If it receives enough votes from other customers, our development team will consider adding it to one of our upcoming updates.
Kind Regards,
8theme team.
Hi Tony,
Thanks, but it seems impossible to add a Task there. It asks me to login again (even though I’m logged in to the 8theme site), and then doesn’t accept my login/pass (even though I’m logged in with this same info right here right now).
The simple example/explanation below will make it even more clear of how essential and logical it is to have Brand name data included in Product search source data, for any user, so therefor an essential update for the XStore theme.
Product search using Brand data
It seems that the search function is currently not using any assigned Brand name data.
It would however be no more than logical that Product name and (optionally assigned) Brand name are both used as source data for Product search results:
Someone looking for ‘Apple’ would currently not find anything on a site that sells ‘iPad’, ‘iPhone, ‘MacBook’, … Even if every of those products has ‘Apple’ as Brand name assigned to it.
You can see how this makes no sense and is a serious shortcoming of the search function.Feature Request: please include Brand names to the search data used for Products.
Thanks!

See private screenshots.
I’m using Safari, not private and actually logged in to 8theme (as shown on top right).

Hi Rose,
Worked on Chrome, so I’ve been able to enter the request 🙂
So it seems this part of your site is not Safari compatible somehow.
Best,
Mathew
Hello, Mathew,

We kindly request that you use Google Chrome when accessing the Taskboard page henceforth.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Just to let you know, I can no longer log in to the Taskboard to follow up on Jack’s reply on my task. It’s a similar error as explained above, but now even using Google Chrome isn’t a solution anymore.

He proposed asking a quote for a customisation, but that doesn’t work either. I was going to answer him this:
“Hi Jack, Just to let you know the Request Customisation link is not allowing to put in any info about what one would like to request to get a quote, it just immediately gives a ‘thank you for sending your request’ message.
Tested in Safari, in Firefox, in Chrome, all the same…”
You’re all doing your best to provide great customer support, a big thanks for that, but the platform being used for it has major issues apparently…
