    Hi,

I wanted to simply add my URL to a facebook post this morning to help my local area while we are in lockdown and normal stores are closed.

This is what happened…strange description and no image
    https://prnt.sc/vdxp51

    So I tried to fix.
Using the facebook debugger I get this…
    https://prnt.sc/vdxrci

    – Is it possible to explicitly provide the image through xstore?
    – I understand from another recent post that I am unable to change the description in the theme, which I have already noted seems ridiculous as I have no way of changing that text in the account box!

So I installed Yoast SEO as per your suggestion to previous similar threads. Updated the plug-in settings and home page settings as per plug-in instructions (free version)
    https://prnt.sc/vdxz5f
    https://prnt.sc/vdy6lu

Using the facebook debugger I scraped the URL again and the description is updated but I still can not see the picture I have specified, the debugger is stating ‘Invalid Image Content Type’. It is just an image that I also use for my homepage logo. I have tried to use bigger and smaller images with the same result.
    https://prnt.sc/vdyb9n
    https://prnt.sc/vdyaus

Could the theme be outputting a duplicate og image tag?

Any ideas what may be causing this?
    Many thanks

I’m closing this thread as I believe I have found the root of the issue.

In case anyone else is having the same problems I modified the htaccess file to allow files to be downloaded by twitter and facebook and it now works.

    Hello,

We are glad that you sorted out! We would be grateful if you provide an example of the code that you used in the .htaccess.

    Regards

    Hello, @MichaelB

Do you have the same error with the image?

Yep but I don’t want to use a plugin.

I’d rather the above user just posts the solution.

P.S. No need to respond to me 🙂

If the user posts the solution then great. If not, then not the end of the world 😀

Sorry for misleading you MichaelB, I am still using a plug-in, the one recommended by 8theme Yoast, however even with the plug-in the pictures were not showing in facebook. Essentially they are being blocked, hence the change to the htaccess file.

    Hello, @BSW

Problem after using the SEO plugin mentioned by the user is not related to theme. It was server permissions. Read the answer of the topic creator.

    Regards
